Married people sure spend a lot of time worrying about unmarried people not getting married.
We all know that this Faux Concern is just jealousy.
They just want you to join them in their misery.

Marriage is a failed institution.
1. Marriage inevitably leads to divorce.
2. Divorce leads to custody battle and alimony
3. Divorce means the ex-wife gets custody of the kid (s)
4. Ex-wives get hooked up with other men.
5. They raise your kids.
6. Meanwhile you hook up with someone and raise her kids from a previous marriage.
7. Go back to 1 and repeat three times
8. End you 3-4 kids who barely know you and sure don't respect you
9. End up alone in a retirement home and die.
Suddenly phones + XVideos + Japanese toys looks far more attractive.
No weddings, No divorce lawyers, no child support, no alimony, no kids, no college tuitions.
Most importantly, no messes except for the ones you make with your hands. And those things can clean up.....
Phones cost 2K every 5 years or so.
It is also a great national service.....
Why bring a soul into a world of economic downturns, with layoffs, stagnant wages, ever increasing prices, destroyed family structures, political, social and economic turmoil.....
Also with AI un-employment for white collar, manufacturing jobs will be as high as 90-95%.
If everyone were to become a carpenter, welder, roofer, plumber or electrician then why would anyone need one. They would do the job themselves.
Why bring a soul into a world of un-employment and economic strife???????????
No, but marriage also isn't a solution to gaping hole in most people's lives either. Nothing can fill that thing.
A lot of things can distract from it.
Marriage is awesome, but when built with most modern requirements - it's a resource investment, it's about your happiness, life is about the least amount of friction and the most amount of happiness (which is completely undefined), loner-ism, cool people have sex with as many people as possible, etc. - yeah it isn't built to support those vapid outcomes.
The entire problems of men not getting married, of modern liberal single women, of modern women who think themselves way high on the pedastal, of marriage "not being a good decision," ALL have to do with our modern value system. It's completely twisted.

Glad to know you could rise to the occasion in your 70s.

We pushed careers over partnership. Made divorce cheap and easy with a soft landing built in. Ditched religion, which used to be the main reason people stayed when it got hard. Added apps so you can always find someone who looks better without leaving the house.
Now women have every incentive to walk and most men are just watching. Plenty of us still want a nice, virtuous girl to build a real life with, but that feels rare these days, and the risk isn’t worth it for a lot of guys.
What’s left? Your mom wanting grandkids and maybe God if you still believe.

Most women are far too fat and feminist to marry

I'm not reading this whole thread and I'm sure this ground has been covered already but a lot of it is:
The modern woman who is strong and independent, doesn't need a man, and fancies herself a 10 (partly because all of her friends and social media tell her she's a 10, when in reality she's a 4). This same woman also wants and thinks she deserves a man who takes care of her, spends his money on her, treats her well, makes a great living, is taller than 6", and essentially worships her. But she is not willing or able to do any of the things that said man is looking for (support, companionship, nurturing, love, etc).
Essentially guys nowadays are looking at what women bring to the table ("I get my hair done and spend a ton of money on makeup, that's what") vs. what they require from the man, and that mental math simply doesn't make sense for them.

If I was single and looking to marry I'd definitely use a woman's opinion of the issue as a go/no go benchmark.
Any woman who can justify what that crazy evil bitch did is delusional and evil herself. I'd be hesitant to even sleep and ghost a woman like that. She's boiled rabbit crazy.

Says the soft fat douche.
Every "sack up" douche is either fat, a wife guy, or some other dysfunction.
You're not anywhere close to the real-world today. All of your views of life are in Hollywood movies.

Nah! Haven't had a drink since the Hoover administration and I am 52. Take it whichever way you want.
Therapy.....not my thing....
If you think marriage is not a failed institution, then I would recommend stupidity therapy for you.

You keep repeating it but...

Over the past half century, Americans overwhelmingly reported being happy, and the biggest factor in happiness was being married,

The 2022 edition of the General Social Survey (GSS)—the nation’s preeminent social barometer—reveals that marriage and family are strongly associated with happiness. The GSS shows that a combination of marriage and parenthood is linked to the biggest happiness dividends for women. Among married women with children between the ages of 18 and 55, 40% reported they are “very happy,” compared to 25% of married childless women, and just 22% of unmarried childless women.

Specifically, 35% of married men ages 18-55 who have children report being “very happy,” followed by 30% of married men who do not have children. By contrast unmarried childless men, and especially unmarried fathers are the least happy—with less than 15% of these men saying they are “very happy.” In other words, married men (ages 18-55) in America are about twice as likely to be very happy, compared to their unmarried peers.

and die alone and have no one to enjoy retirement with? sounds like a miserable existence to me. the key is finding a woman of quality who you can build a life with.
