Definitely a recurring theme with our government. Afghanistan, Iraq, and now the Corona.

No, it is not.

- Sweden has school choice.
- Partially privatized social security
- Low corporate taxes combined with high taxes on the poor.

Try getting Bernouts to subscribe to any of that.

I’m not picking sides but I assume this to be both parties. Let’s face it, neither party would have done worth a shite here- we are ultra exposed, hard to corral, etc. I think trump seems like a dumbass in his press conferences, but I sure don’t think he has done any worse than anyone else would have.

Remember these are basically the same “experts” using the same highly touted “scientific methods” who are so adamant that we have 8 years to save the planet from climate change. 98% Democrats / progressives who have zero accountability and who are salaries by government orgs or colleges / universities

So should Italy and Spain have never shutdown as well, would they be in better shape.

Way to cherry pick two of the worst examples. The very definition of a straw man.

Remember, Sweden is not a free for all. They have restrictions, but are focused on making sure that their health care system is not overrun. Beyond that they are willing to accept infections, recognizing that it is the only way to get past this.

They have tried to quarantine the vulnerable, with limited success (their nursing homes are getting blown up). They are getting hit hard in the short term, but before long they are going to be past this with herd immunity.

I would guess that every single "Bernout" in America would immediately jump if you offered them those things above above in a package deal with the few other things Sweden offers:

- Fully Universal Health Care

- Free University Tuition

- Strong Worker's Unions with fully paid work sick leave for everyone, high minimum wage, paid child care for everyone

You think a single one would not take that deal?

Sweden sounds like precisely what Sanders wants.

They are the worst example but they are an example that exists. Sweden may be the best example. Spain os the worst example. We need to take both examples to really get an accurate view of our response to this thing.

Sweden’s deaths per 1,000,000 is around 30% higher than it is here

They have more infections than their neighbors. This is not a flaw in their strategy. It is a feature of it. They are playing the long game.

The game is not over. You are saying Sweden has lost just because they are 10 points down in the middle of the second quarter.

Do you think these shutdowns are "saving" lives? It is just a timing issue. See how this shutdown strategy works when we go into next flu season with a population with little immunity. Sweden has a strategy for the long term.

In the end their death rate will probably be about what ours ends up being and they won't have near the impact on their economy as we did.

Sweden has 2300 or so deaths, the US has around 59,000, the US has 33 times the population of Sweden, adjust for population and Sweden would have 81,000 deaths, give or take a few.
