frick these people. You need to be an a-hole. I had some home protection company salesperson come out to my house on a Saturday morning. It wasn't 8AM early.. It was around 10, but I was short with him. I just said "if I want your service I'll look it up online" and shut the door.

My new Aussie, who doesn't have a mean bone in her body, does a "monster dog" growl (on that command) that is very low and sounds incredibly fierce. So, on the rare times anyone comes to the door (always the Jehovah Witnesses here) I give Molly the "monster dog" command and she stands by the door with that very prolonged growl. They leave. I think they aren't coming back again.

I would agree with your wife and will add she ought to be happy about you being an a-hole in this situation. Damn someone EVER ringing the doorbell. If you need me you know my number. Call me and tell me you are outside. If you don't have my number you ain't got no business coming to the door and knocking, ringing or just standing there. I will gladly be an a-hole if someone comes to the door without calling because there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for anyone to do so.

I came home from work about 2 years ago and a young man was coming out the front door of our house. Strange car parked in the street out front. My dad was the only one home, wife was out of town and daughter was at band practice. I asked him what he was doing and he said "Mr. Hunt let US in". I went inside and there were 2 more inside talking to my dad. Kirby Vaccuum cleaner! In 2023. Who knew? My dad, 83 at the time and lonely and loving to talk, had been bending their ear for what must have been about 6 hours from what I could gather. They had for certain vacuumed every inch of the house. They couldn't get out of there fast enough but Daddy just kept on talking. The main one stayed and talked to my dad about 2 more hours. I went to bed while he was still there. They ain't been back and they did not sale anything. Prior to this I wasn't aware they were still around.

We live about 30 minutes from the Irish Traveler community in South Carolina and they go door to door committing all manner of cons and crimes but they do not do so in our area as they are well known and the police do not tolerate them doing it. That said the main vacuum cleaner of this trio certainly looked like one of them. They never tried to get anything while there but it was pretty odd....

Our first house had a big old Jesus Incorporated church as our backdoor neighbor. We shared a chain link fence and it was about 1/4 mile from the main entrance of their church to our front door if you cut across our lawn...which they did. Every Saturday morning, about 8 AM. a gang of them smut peddlers would fan out across the neighborhood and try to sell folks on their bullshite. Like clock work. I was very pleasant about it for about a year and sort of unpleasant about it for almost another year. They came one Saturday while the wife and I, 23 at the time so this was very common of a Saturday morning, were in the act of creating a family. When I heard the door bell I knew immediately who it was and what I had to do. I went to the door, butt naked and in the way of 23 year old men in the middle of doing their marital duty....and opened the door and said, loudly "GOOD MORNINIG"! It was a big miscalculation on my part...I had to replant a large amount of grass in the yard where they churned up the sod running off. They did not, however, come back again. My wife was mortified and said I ought not to have done it but after a month or so of being able to sleep in on Saturday mornings even she relented and said I had done the right thing.
