Yep, the majority of the stuff in the picture above wasn't there years ago. They put in a lot of extra cottages, the pool, tennis courts, and other additions.
Was only the main house, Boys Wing, overseers cottage, and the restaurant (Randolph House) back before the renovations.

Wasn’t that the plantation house where the owners were a couple of gay guys who had a dog wedding there that was extreme?
Over a decade ago, someone involved with the construction at a plantation house was telling me about the owners having a huge & lavish dog wedding. I thought it was Nottoway.

Exactly, this is only the cash exchange. I'm sure the next updated tax assessment will tell you a lot more about the actual cash value of the property. Or maybe not, isn't this in W. Feleciana, I have now idea about how the assessor works there.

Most of these old homes are a maintenance nightmare. If you're trying to make money with these places you need to really be churning out the customers. And there just isn't that kind of demand. So unless you just have shittons of money and don't care about a property losing money then you are in a tight spot.
Nottoway is unique though as far as southern mansions go. That place could have its own zip code.

The Town of Port Gibson is evidently circling the drain, the antebellum properties listed there are going for a song.

$225k c.1811 3 bed, 2 bath, 2,766 sq. ft.
Expensive upkeep and a challenging town to live in.
