Not sure if serious, but I'd imagine the church property like that is self insured.
True, but the rebuilt version won't be the same and you can't put a price on the part that was lost.

No but there is some significant renovation work going on which may have caused it, but too early to say for sure.

from my untrained eye... it looks like the fire is moving away from where all the scaffolding is... meaning it started in the area of the scaffolding and is continuing to devour the rest of the building

Truly sad to hear this news. So glad I had the opportunity to visit a few months ago. The feeling walking up to and inside the cathedral was surreal and special.
