Just seems like such a non sequitur. Place has been under some form of “restoration” for most of modern time. I was there in the early 90s and again around 2010, and there was scaffolding outside or inside both times.

If Occam’s razor is to be applied, arson is the correct path to start with.
Scruffy didn’t say it was Muslims, just that it is likely arson due to the frequency of recent arsons.
He probably should have replied to the post that whoever posted about the “it’s muslims crowd” responded too.

I mean...they're certainly not unheard of. Several old arse buildings around Europe have burned down or been significantly damaged as a result of something that occurred during restoration.

This one was hidden arson disguised in an active construction area.

Fits the bill here as well.
Much of the vandalism is graffitti and other things with a clear message.
Burning the roof of Notre Dame, albeit destructive, lacks the message/symbolism of the other events. I realize it's Holy Week, but the fire wasn't even started in the chapel area.

The least amount of assumptions is to believe the restoration crew/effort started the fire. They factually exist in this situation.

Hiding it in a construction area means that the powers that be can hide it.
