Sure, some of the staples are still made in Wisconsin, but for example, their casual $325 penny loafer is imported.

Thess folks wouldn't know a nice shoe if it kicked them in the arse.

Yeah, they have some that are Italians and say so. The previous CEO said he wanted to grab a share of the sub-$200 market. That strategy has gone by the wayside with the current management. The Road Warriors and cheaper lines were made down there. The boots and good stuff such as Park Avenue, Fifth Avenue, and Strands stayed in Port Washington.
The current CEO is on video several times saying they are making more here. I have friends who have toured the factories and offices. I know people that work there. They are not offshoring as JM and CH did. In fact, they are rolling out limited runs. Rolled out the gunboats and some special Strands last week and the Broadstreet's last year. I can show you numerous videos of the shoes being made at the Port Washington factory.

From a friend at the company.

Hey all! I agree. Reviews are important. We're just changing web platforms over the coming days and had to remove them from the results page in order to do that. Still active on the product detail page and will be back up after we migrate to the new platform. Not to worry!

The only shoes i have ever spent a couple hundred or more on where boots.
There is not a single reason someone could convince me of to spend that on athletic shoes or dress shoes

They last a lot longer and end up costing you less if you wear them frequently.
I used to buy $100-125 pair of J&Ms or Cole Haan's for work and they'd be falling apart after a year. I think I paid about $250-275 for the Allen Edmonds I have on right now on sale but they are like 7-8 years old.

If you have this attitude you likely don't wear dress shoes 5+ days a week. If you do wear them daily then your position leads you to spend more money in the long run and be less comfortable. A quality pair of dress shoes is literally an expense you can amortize over decades with the occasional recrafting. That said there are lots of people that almost never wear dress shoes and it makes less sense for them to buy quality dress shoes just like the wedding/funeral only suit-wearing person doesn't get a lot of benefit from a finely tailored suit.

The production is here.
More AE shoes are made in Dominican Republic than US now.

AE were my go to when I had to wear a suit daily. Some people don't understand quality leather though. I know some people won't get a unimproved hide for their furniture...because OH NOES, the leather will have scars from bug bites and wire fences and such... You can hardly see them and you can tell it is real leather, oh and it will last decades. I Like the imperfections of a natural product.

The best shoes they claimed were Aldens and worth the money.
I have a pair of the Indy 403 boot. Worth their weight in gold. I have high arches and was having foot pain about five years ago. The 403 was originally a therapeutic boot, and is still very well-designed for your feet. I wore them for a month solid and then 2-3 days /week after. No problem.
Expensive? Maybe, but much cheaper than co-pays and specialist visits for doctors. Guaranteed.

Wear Alden’s on a regular basis and my only complaint is that I have to take them off when going thru TSA Precheck because of the steel shank. I know, 1st world problem.

Not arguing that one. Indy's are the best. We had a thread about them on here once.
I think one of the BR haberdasheries sells them.

I just had a falling out with them. I’ve been buying Allen Edmonds for about 25 years and have 10 pair still in my closet. I ordered a couple pair before Christmas and one pair shipped out and the other had to be crafted. They got them made and shipped them out about 5 or 6 weeks, not bad on lead time. The problem came when fedex lost them and AE didn’t want to do shite about it. They were lost for a week so I stopped by fedex and they told me they were gone so I call AE and the guy basically told me to frick off and I needed to wait a few more weeks before they would do anything. So I emailed them and didn’t get a response for two weeks. Their final response after all of it was to refund and tell me to just reorder.

That's why i order mine over the phone. Most stores have just three or so employees. Get to know them a little and they are a little more motivated to help you as it affects their store sales numbers.
