That pretty much has happened in all administration changes to some extent and I feel confident in saying it is doubtful any sitting president was actually standing around super glueing or stealing regardless of party.

This is facinating. I have heard the stories of these letters left in the Oval Office for the incoming President normally addressed President number to following president number.

Presidents have always been very secretive about the contents of the letter left for them. This is very cool.

The war that was indefensible was the second one in Iraq. GHWB knew that overtaking and occupying Iraq was a no win situation. Saddam invaded Kuwait, our ally, and we pushed him back to where he came from, rightfully so. Contrary to his son who, despite being told occupying Iraq would end bad, did so anyway. As predicted by his own father, W created a situation that meant we had to stay for good or deal with the resulting power vacuum.

What we've come to find out is that ruling in a country with so many different fanatical religious groups probably requires ruling by fear. Saddam was the devil for sure and the world is a better place without him but that region will only be "stabilized" when another tyrant takes over.

That is very cool and it makes you have a little perspective that even though they may all seem like Frank Underwoods, they might still be really good people deep down. Thanks a lot for sharing.

I loved that guy as President. It always bothered me that they threw the "wimp" label at him when the guy was a war hero.

He was terrible for our economy

not really. Business cycle is a real thing. 91 recession was shallow. he handled it poorly denying it but it wasn't his fault.

started a war in Iraq he couldn't finish

while I didn't support that war, it wasn't a clusterfrick like his sons.

yes, the iraq war involvement helped create al queda. But actually what started it was afghanastan jihad, which we financed and trianed him. this links back to reagan, not bush.

I think all ex presidents can be friendly because it's such a unique small club. You each want what's best for the country no matter how different your views are. After being president, you kinda need that club to adjust to real life again and it's nice to have a few living presidents to be there.

Obama can suck a dick though.

Clinton stole a bunch of stuff and removed the W key from keyboards before Bush took office.

can you elaborate on this for those like me who don't have a clue

technically it was his staff & interns. little bitches that they were.

was coming in here to post this.

in true classy fashion however, W refused to comment on this and in fact asked his staff to just let it go.

You have to wonder how Obama will fit into this club. Obviously, W will have some heartburn; since he has been blamed for every one of Obama's long list of failures. And Clinton straight up hates the guy.

Presidents receive lots of gifts from foreign dignitaries and other supporters while they serve.

Much of the pub propaganda story about the Clintons taking items from the White House related to taking of these gifts.

This was mentioned in a thread the other day so I looked it up. There were some items that were returned by the Clintons when it was determined that they weren't originally gifts. Then some of the things the Clintons returned were then returned back to them because they were gifts.

Just as a point of reference, Reagan excepted a "gift" of a 2.5 million dollar mansion from one donor.

He later decided not to go through with it and didn't accept it.

The Bushes aren't bad people. GHWB is a great American and W had good intentions, he just wasn't a great speaker/leader, and he made some bad decisions like choosing the most villainous VP of all time.

What an idiot. Yea,I guess it took ol' Osama 9 years to work up the nerve in Clinton's 8th year of office to attack the Cole.
