The best part of this thread is that all the people blowing GHWB now would never have elected him because he's "too liberal" aka moderate and thoughtful.

although a very smart man, he was a terrible president, seems like he'd be fun to sit down and have a few beers with(when he could)

The clintons took furniture/decorations/and other stuff which technically belongs to the Park Service if I remember correctly. They had to embarrassingly return everything.

Sup Trump,
Keys and codes to Roswell in desk drawer. We do have aliens there... And yes, we have a wall around them.
Peace Out,

That and gifts from other heads of state that were given to "The President" , they took. They were too dumb to know that they were given to the position of POTUS and belonged to the country, not them personally.

it's hard to believe that Bill or Hillarhoids had any participation in packing up thier things when leaving the white house

can you elaborate on this for those like me who don't have a clue
It's a tradition to leave booby traps for the new administration. Nothing new.
One of the office pranks Clinton's people did was remove the W from the keyboards.

Well don't you find it odd that other presidents didn't take and have to return such items?

I think that note represents the attitude Americans should take once a president is elected. In a thread the other day I said this, but I remember my dad telling me when I was young that it doesn't matter who a person votes for, whoever becomes president, as an American it is your duty to support them.
The political climate we live in completely divides our country and politicians do more of whats best for their party than whats best for the country as a whole. I think this letter should be an example. This letter was also written on my 15th birthday.

I'm sure it's happened in the past, either intentionally or inadvertently, my guess is that at one time there was enough respect for the office that it was probably considered bad etiquette to call up the ex prez and say something like, "uh, Mr. POTUS, we're going to have to bill you for those towels and light bulbs unless you return them"

And to think the Clinton Admin removed all the Ws from all key boards left in White House.

kind of doubt there were any keyboards left behind, but it makes a good story

HW Bush is an incredible American.
He is, and to think Reagan totally locked him out and did nothing for Bush during the campaign.

Somehow, some way, I don't see Obama leaving a note like that for Trump.
Posted on 6/10/16 at 7:58 pm to tke857
Oh and Bush 41 was a very very underrated POTUS. He did everything right in office including not fricking around in the mideast and leaving Saddam in power. Shame his son couldn't understand the wisdom of that move.
I would vote for him in a heartbeat.

Partisanship aside, Barack Obama as a person does not seem like a bad dude. No matter who is elected I have a hard time believing he won't leave a similarly classy note.
FYI, leaving a classy, encouraging, personal note for the next president is a long standing tradition. No matter the party, every president you've hated over the last few decades has left a similar note.
And for those of you trashing Clinton on this score, ask yourself right now how in the world is it that you were just able to read the the private note GHWB left him.
No one is perfect. Many of us are too far from it. But there has never been a monster occupying the White House and it does all of us some good to recognize the humanity of OUR presidents and understand that the position they are ALL in. Democrat or Republican, there's a reason they all age so fast in that position and it's not because they don't give a shite.
