He was a terrible president. Who gives a shite if he is a nice guy. Had he produced and not put us in a senseless war, he might have got another 4 years.

WASHINGTON, June 11— The General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, said today that ''damage, theft, vandalism and pranks did occur in the White House complex'' in the presidential transition from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush. The agency put the cost at $13,000 to $14,000, including $4,850 to replace computer keyboards, many with damaged or missing W keys.
Some of the damage, it said, was clearly intentional. Glue was smeared on desk drawers. Messages disparaging President Bush were left on signs and in telephone voice mail. A few of the messages used profane or obscene language.
¶ ''A Secret Service report documented the theft of a presidential seal that was 12 inches in diameter from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building,'' next to the White House, on Jan. 19, 2001, the accounting office said.
¶ Six White House employees told investigators that they had seen graffiti derogatory to Mr. Bush on the wall of a stall in a men's room. Other White House employees saw a sticker in a filing cabinet that said, ''Jail to the thief,'' implying that Mr. Bush had stolen the 2000 election. The report said all these employees were members of the current White House, but did not make clear whether any had also worked in the Clinton White House.

He's always seemed like a class act to me.
did you like where he bribed the Ayatollah of Iran to keep US Marines and State dept staff prisoner, so G HW Bush would gain advantage in the election?
GHW Bush = the CIA scumbag of all time.

You've swallowed the liberal lie.
Congress, including Shrillary Clinton, vetted and agreed upon the evidence that led to the war.

and here come the libtards....I was just simply saying it was a nice gesture from one man to another. He didn't have to do it. It was a sign of respect in the shadows of defeat. Takes a big person to do something like that.

I was only 13 for that election but I remember it as Perot costing him the election. The war was insanely popular IIRC.

H.W. had his faults, but the first gulf war was highly supported and justifiable at the time. He didn't try to "nation build" like his son's disaster in Iraq.
He was also the victim of a natural recession that occurs in a market economy every few years. Really wish H.W. would've gotten 4 more years.

he wasn't a terrible president. He wasn't great, but certainly much better than his son. I am relatively liberal, and I think he is probably the 2nd best in my life time next to clinton. He certainly was better than reagan, w, carter, nixon, ford and obama.

He was terrible for our economy, and started a war in Iraq he couldn't finish. Was a complete waste of resources, and American lives. He was bad. You can argue that war pissed off Osama, which lead to the attack of the USS Cole, then 9/11. OP has got me salty on a nice Friday.

Keep going...

The accounting office said similar pranks were reported in prior transitions, including the one from Mr. Bush's father to Mr. Clinton in 1993. ''We were unable to conclude,'' it said, ''whether the 2001 transition was worse than previous ones.''

Solid president and a good man. Victim of a 'time for a change' mentality. A cultural change for the new generation. Felt like an interim president.

As means of paying it forward Clinton ripped all of the W keys off of the White House computers when he handed the reigns over.
