I’ve read this thread and looked at the post. None of it makes any sense. There is nothing to be outraged about. A variety of supplies and things are being delivered. The photo also shows cans of premix gas-oil, which suggests there are also gas tools somewhere in that same storehouse, that has electricity.

This is just more of the river of BS that republicans spew all day about everything.

And the only source is an anonymous random post on Twitter reposted by a right wing website.

It’s a cult.

They need to leave the real clearing to people who know what they’re doing and not a bunch of bored volunteers.

So your suggestions are:

1) "Bored volunteers" are the ones doing the clearing, and
2) An electric chainsaw does not have the ability to seriously injure someone?

1 they’ll try if you give them the equipment. Seen it in ever disaster response I’ve done.
2 a 16” electric is less dangerous than a 27” gas. I can explain how chainsaws work if necessary. Most people with fully functional brains can handle a 16” cordless. But you’re not clearing roads with that. 20”+ gas and you need some experience. Those shouldn’t be handed out to rookies.

So you see this, which by all indications is a real picture from a real person on the ground up there, and are immediately able to convince yourself they're wrong and it's untrue and none of the completely logical reasons why this is absurd are true. They should honestly study the brain of people like you...we could get some actual scientific evidence around the woke mind virus and TDS.

And what is the cult you're suggesting everyone is in? The cult of calling out government inefficiency, stupidity, and waste? Then I'm guilty.

Aren't they next to the generators, too?

At least they are trying to minimize their carbon footprint.

Is there no end to government incompetence.

Well aware how they work. Poster Bruco is up there today helping clear debris. He'll be able to confirm how many electric chainsaws are being put to good use by 13 year old kids, grandmas, and others who are not yet ready for a gas chainsaw to clear their yards.

These are for people to clean up shite around their house.

After Hurricane Ivan, I actually would have loved to have one of these to cut the limbs from the trees that had fallen on top of my mother's and all her neighbors houses.

There were crews clearing roads with professional equipment and the giant oaks and pines in the yard could wait. I almost broke my back trying to clear her and all her senior citizen neighbors roofs with a giant chainsaw to temporarily patch holes and put tarps.

I’d be willing to bet that CAT chainsaw batteries are dogshit and last for about 30 minutes of extreme use

That’s exactly who needs to be doing the real work while these are used for smaller work.

you know how long a gas chainsaw can run on say 2 gallons of gas?

The answer is a long fricking time.

That’s exactly what they’re good for. Keep the pro crews focused on roads and easements and give people tools to self service their property within reason.

And the assumption is that everyone has they hand these out to has their own generator with spare outlets and/or 3 extra of the batteries?

Serious question.

Serious answer:

After Hurricane Ivan, every senior citizen in my mother's neighborhood had:

1. trees that had fallen on their houses with lots of limbs --some poking through the roofs -- and all of it needed to be removed to put blue tarps. Getting the tarps up as soon as possible was a priority to say the least.

2. Almost everyone in the neighborhood had gas generators and gas wasn't easy to get and people were conserving but it wasn't that impossible after the first few days.

Like I said above, I would have loved to have one these to clear roofs and had no problem charging and recharging the battery at hers of any of her neighbor's houses.

Seems a lot of posters are not that first hand familiar with what you actually need if you're just a regular homeowner and neighbor trying to get the absolute necessities done anyway you can after a major storm.

Cutting thru a big log is a lot different as to cutting limbs. A few big logs and a battery is done.
You can bet the new batteries had to be charged prior to first use.
