People spitting out gum on sidewalk. How hard is it to keep the wrapper that you took it out of, spit it in wrapper, or just find a garbage can to throw it in. Happens often but today I'm first day in new Hoka sneakers and find I'm sticking to the ground when I walk.

Just 2 days ago at gas pump a kid gets out of back seat of car and just throws fast food bag on the ground in front of parent. I'm next to them and went pick it up right in front of parent and threw it in garbage (2 feet away) and mentioned that it's not good to let our kids throw trash on ground. Dad just looked at me saying nothing. I guess I needed to be trash collector for them.

Somewhere in SE Asia (Singapore maybe?), I think they tie people up and cane them until they pass out for doing this.

Guy I work with went to Korea, said it’s a $500 non negotiable fine if you spit gum out.

I'm not defending spitting out gum on sidewalks, or littering of any kind for that matter.

But how commonplace do you think it is for people to hang onto their gum wrapper? When I open a piece of gum, I immediately discard the wrapper. It has never even entered my mind to put it in my pocket for safekeeping for later use.

Hey Booyow would you feel better if I put "cheap Walmart sneakers" instead? You obviously don't know about that brand.

I guess keeping wrapper is something you're taught. Never chewed gum much but always done this.

I see gum stains all over in front of my gym and can't imagine the asshat that would do that just outside the place they exercise for others to step in. Also seem to step in it once or twice a season at kids' sports fields.

If you absolutely must spit it out toss it in the woods, bushes, a ditch anywhere people won't be walking.

What is even worse is the fricktards that spit gum into the urinal. Should be a special place in hell for them.

Second worst is the A-holes that spit gum, dip, etc in urinals. Someone has to fish that out and/or it clogs it up.
There is a trash can feet away.

All I can figure is they're so dismayed at the diminutive size of their shriveled little pecker that their jaw drops open and it falls out.

Chewing gum is trashy behavior. Not throwing it away in the trash is trashier.

When China hosted the Olympics, they had a national campaign to tell people not to spit in public.

I think the best thing to do in that scenario is hand the bag to the dad and say “hey, I think your kid dropped this” as if it was done accidentally, and then point out “if he was looking for the garbage can it’s right over there”.
