Well, i damn sure would choose Texas over LA anyway if i was gonna invest in resort locations

It's always a race to the bottom. Louisiana had nothing to lose. Now, it will just have nothing.

Was there a federal law only allowing casinos in those states? I assume that doesn’t count Indian reservations?

Def need one in Galveston. It was a gambling hub before Vegas and it could use the tax dollars to revitalize parts of the city. Would be a perfect match.
All those gambling dollars really revitalized Shreveport, LC, Baton Rouge and NO.

I’m not opposed to it per se, but we don’t need casino money in Texas. Half the fun is traveling to some podunk Indian joint for the weekend.

Imagine Oklahoma. Those Indian casinos make LA casinos look like Aria
Oklahoma casinos are like small cities. You see 50 miles of nothing then a massive casino then 50 more miles of absolutely nothing

You are so right, Owlfan.
Can all 800 of us come live with you until we find a place in Houston?

This would hurt SP and LC specifically. I don't think it would make any difference to the BR/Nola casinos. They aren't really out of state tourist destinations.
The money certainly isn't being used like we were promised though. Neither will the legal weed money, sports gambling money etc. LA is a banana republic.

It's state laws that ban or allow casinos, not federal.
Indian reservations can get around it because of federal provisions and court cases, but they've needed some state legislature intervention at times when out of control authorities tried to shut them down.

I favor casino gambling with all of the associated jobs. I don’t favor it as a means to fund government. That is bs.
Oh and I think the lottery is the worst form of gambling. Few jobs come as a result and it’s more if a drain on lower class people than anything else.

Southland Park in West Memphis is much better than any casino in Tunica. Only reason to drive from Memphis to Tunica is for the poker room at Horseshoe. One frickin poker room left, used to be a great poker town. Southland had an electronic poker room that I really liked but wasn’t popular before it got shut down. Hope they open a poker room.
The shortest route from Memphis to Tunica takes you through an area that looks like a third world country after a natural disaster. A lot of the casinos closed down and I have no idea how Hollywood is even still open.

What led to the tunica casinos demise?

Louisiana Politicians shite the bed with sports betting. They let Mississippi and Oklahoma get way ahead of them.

If that happens then Shreveport snd Lake Charles are fricked

Indian casinos suck though. No free booze while gambling.
When I first moved to Dallas, we went to Winstar one weekend. I was playing blackjack and kept waiting for the Coctail waitress who never showed up.
Last time I went to an Indian casino. I occasionally gamble for fun. It's entertainment. If I'm throwing my money away, least they can do is get me drunk for free
