shite, an excel document for each prison with a weekly update would be more efficient than whatever they are using now

Seriously. It's not that difficult.

Anyone responsible for a current system that keeps people in jail beyond their sentence should at least be fired and possibly thrown in jail themselves.

easy solution, just sue the frick out of them and get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for every extra day you spend in jail

money is all they care about so its the only way to enforce competence in running jails

Happened to a friend of mine who served a year and a half for assault and battery due to a fight while drunk. He was supposed to been released end of January and just got out the other day 3 weeks after his release date

I had to do mandatory 48 hours as the minimum sentence for lynching. Well i went in at 2pm on a Wednesday and at 2pm friday i had to wait doe a guard to walk around and then told him i was supposed to be getting out. He laughed and kept goin about his business and i was like no for real go check then gave him my name and shite. I got out pretty quickly but i couldnt even blame the guy as many times a day as he probably heres "im supposed to be getting out" or something similar

One concern is that keeping people in prison when they should be released is costing Louisiana TAXPAYERS millions of dollars. One guy was kept for 3 YEARS past his sentencing time. State had to pay for those three years plus settle with him for over $ 120,000.00

But all you have to do is not get arrested in the first place. Pretty easy.

We should do this. But we would have to have a system in place that can immediately determine and ensure there are no other cases, sentences, etc, that would required continued detention. Of course, we should have such systems in place now.

Fair enough.

Shouldn't this be done before sentencing, plea, jury decision?

Anyone kept past the end of their sentence should get restitution. They receive money for each inmate, so they need to reimburse these people.

way to show ur privilege.

people can and do get arrested through no fault of their own sometimes. all it takes is an incompetent officer or one having a bad day and being in the wrong place at the wrong time
