I was born in 1938 - those scenes translated to Vernon Parish fit my recollection from the early 40s.
That was truly a different era - very few vagrants and those that did come around were truly grateful for anything given to them.
The hard economic times were ending as I came of age, but the personal responsibility imprint had been well implanted. My mom was a human dynamo. Hardest working person I've ever known.

A few years ago, my sister ( no pics ) was visiting and we were watching "Otis at Monterrey", and she pointed out that everyone looked so natural. No ridiculous makeup or hair, no tattoos, no overweight people (except Mama Cass), no plastic surgery.

I love looking at these old films and trying to find the streets in present day. I think most of the beginning was filmed on Butler St.
I did find the church that is shown at the 19:31 mark.

At least you didn't use a North Korean propaganda video to try to make the same point like that guy on the PT did.

Nice simple life back then. But the harsh truth is that life and culture change over time and people have to change with it for better or for worse.
