Northgate Area at LSU living?

I grew up in Louisiana and a lifelong Tiger fan and thankfully my dream of going to LSU is finally becoming a reality whenever I was accepted this past April for Fall 2020.
I never lived in BR before but visited many times going to games every football season. My question I want to know is how is the northgate area? Specifically the old Tiger Manor Apartments which is now renamed to Bradshaw apartments? I see they have many shops and restaurants around that area and Chimes is super close. My budget for housing from the post 9/11 GI Bill is 1,542$ so something 750-1k 1 bedroom maybe 2 bedroom if reasonable would be ideal so I can still have some extra $$ and that area seems pretty reasonable.
I'll be 23 years old by the time the semester starts so I'm not much interested in the tigerland crowd and all; I have been doing my fair share of partying in Hawaii while in Army. But I will still like to find a few nightlife venues with my age group (22-25ish)
Oh well, I'm excited for the sarcastic remarks. I guess I could have asked one of my advisors all of these questions but frick it, I love the O-T. Can't wait to be a Tiger!
I have read OT long enough to know that El Cid and Bella Noche are the top places to go

The apartments behind Tigerland are marvelous and you should definitely look into those.

The Northgate area is being revitalized quite a lot. You can stay well in your budget and get something nice. Have you considered Southgate Towers?

Northgate is perfect for getting your bike stolen and asked for cash every time you walk to class.

Daughter (no pics) lived in Park Place and she loved it.
Son (no pics as well) is moving into The Lodges and it appears to be nice.

I heard some bad reviews about the property management there but I plan on visiting a few apartments complexes and they are one of them

My daughter is moving to the Lark. It was by far her favorite of all the places we looked.
There’s also a Facebook group for parents and students looking for housing near LSU if you’re on Facebook.
(It’s called LSU parents housing and roommates but it’s all sorts of stuff advertised)

Can be a fun area to live but it can get pretty rough if you go to far down Highland

For $1500 you will have a lot of options. I think Tiger Manor is decent. There's another one over by Louie's and Chase bank that looks decent. But if I was your age and had your budget I'd look at a house in the garden district or zeeland area. Good luck.
