Shreveport by a mile and it is not even close. If he prefers the chance of snow 7 months out of the year and negative 20 degree temperatures without the wind chill, then go for it.

I'd rather go to Haiti than Shreveport.

My buddy went to college in Minot. His greatest memory is jumping from the second floor of the girls dorm into banks of snow. Not bad all things considered.

I’m not military and I’ve never been to North Dakota but I do have experience living in Shreveport and Bossier City.
Barksdale Air Force Base is in Bossier City, not Shreveport and although the towns are just across Red River from each other, they are not the same. Bossier parish is one of the only parishes (counties) in Louisiana that actually has grown in population in the past 10 years. The parish and city are governed differently from Shreveport and Caddo parish and lawlessness is actually frowned on in Bossier City. That’s not to say that some rift raft may not cross the bridge and come to Bossier.
But if I were gonna move back to northwest Louisiana, Bossier City is where I’d live, either in north Bossier/Benton area or toward the east in Haughton or Minden, in fact Minden is probably one of the best towns in the state to live in.
Bossier City, Minden, Haughton and Benton all have good schools and all have good neighborhoods to choose from.
There is plenty of decent places to eat on the Bossier side and multiple casinos, Pierre Bossier Mall, Bass Pro Shops, Bossier City Boardwalk, Ralph and Kacoo’s, Sam’s Club, Academy Sports and more. The old downtown area has been updated and is called the East Bank District for festivals and outdoor activities.
I might would like to visit Minot but based on all that I’ve read about it, I wouldn’t want to live there, I’m also not looking for reasons to move back to Louisiana but if I had to make that choice, I’d pick BAFB in Bossier City.

I assume he is Air Force. Who did he piss off that those are his choices?

Between the two I would probably suck start a pistol instead. If that is not an option then probably Barksdale.

Hell, I would rather be stuck at Eareckson Air Station.

Think Minots usually one of the coldest places in winter in the US.
Our OK weather people seem to point out the high and low temps in Minot once or twice a week when people here in Oklahoma complain about it being cold here.

I would choose Somalia or Haiti over anywhere in Louisiana. I'll let you figure out the rest.

Traveled to Williston a lot during their big oil boom. Not alot to do and bad food but ice fishing through a hole in a trailer was cool AF.

Buddy went up there for Oil field service work. They had a single side trailer. He said it got so cold for a week that tge warmest the inside of the trailer would get was 45 degrees. He said he would rather blow his brains out than work up there again.

Not in the military but I worked at a couple power plants up there and all I can say is frick that place.

It looks like land that's been strip mined.

20 miles out of Bismarck the schools use one bus for high, middle, and elementary.

On the good side there's a pretty girl behind every tree

Barksdale is nice from what I recall but was like 20 years since I’ve been.
