I’ve lived in North Dakota and the only people that genuinely liked it were people from Montana and Mogadishu, Somalia. The pros were always well you can fish up here.

Damn, that's payback for duty in Tampa. I loved being stationed at MacDill. I guess I'd choose Shreveport? But that's only because of the weather. They both suck.

Most everyone I've ever known in the air force said Minot is basically the worst place you can get stationed in the lower 48.
Barksdale is in Shreveport yes, but you can live in Benton or Bossier or Somehere south of Cross lake and be fine for everyday family life.

Would you say it's comparable to Drum just more desolate? Temps, shite to do etc I'm Army so not familiar with AFB

My FIL was in a similar situation and went with Barksdale AFB in Bossier over moving the family to Minot. At least SBC is not far from Dallas - Minot isn't close to anything.

I live in Williston, ND, Shreveport all day. The winters are brutal up here.

My cousin was transferred from Barksdale to Minot. He transferred back as soon as he could. You may get shot in Shreveport, but you won't lose your keys in a snowbank and freeze to death
