Wonder if Zurik has something on him.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Amid building pressure, New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson will retire from his position effective Dec. 31, according to a statement from Mayor LaToya Cantrell.

“The City of New Orleans will soon bid farewell to a great leader, a great partner and a great friend. After 24 years of dedicated public service to the City of New Orleans, Superintendent Shaun Ferguson will retire at the end of this year. He gave this city his very best – the safety and wellbeing of each and every resident and visitor was always his top priority,” said Mayor Cantrell.

This Summer, Mayor Cantrell was quoted saying the following:

“I appointed Commander Shaun Ferguson as chief of the New Orleans Police Department in January 2019. It is a decision that I unequivocally stand by today. Chief Ferguson continues to have my unwavering support and trust as do all the women and men of the New Orleans Police Department. I have full confidence in Chief Ferguson’s leadership and in his plan to keep the residents of Orleans Parish safe. He is deserving of our respect and support.”

Anything she’s for, I’m against it.

I feel safer already. I am sure that the next candidate will be extraordinarily competent and lead the NOPD into a lean mean crime fighting machine that is the envy of every law enforcement agency in the nation. lol

DOJ is going after him for the Sabrina Richardson debacle. This is probably his way to avoid any charges in that mess.

PS cancel Mardi Gras we are about to be another two officers short

Hope a nonbinary transgender biracial person of color takes over! Progress!
I am so happy they don’t use the title “ Chief of police”. “Chief” is cultural appropriation! We need a Social Worker in charge. Hugs, Not Cuffs!

Well, my realism knows Toya already has someone picked out and wants him in before the Council has a say on it.

Maybe Latoya will reconsider when she finds out she can go on a worldwide tour looking for a new chief. 1st class to The Maldives to see how they do it.

Maybe we get lucky and that NYPD guy is still around and wants the job. Had to re-google, Fausto Pichardo is his name.

She does, and it’s not a him. Johnette Williams is the rumor.

New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Shaun Ferguson is retiring, and Mayor LaToya Cantrell is poised to tap Jonette Williams, a deputy chief, to become the city’s first Black woman to lead the department, sources said Tuesday.

Also she’s going to make it official before Jan 1. The new city charter change requiring council approval takes effect Jan 1.
