NOPD officer resigns after alleged theft of wireless earphones from Apple Store

Ayona McGilberry, 24, was still in her probationary period with the New Orleans Police Department when she stepped down from her post under investigation, agency spokesman Beau Tidwell said Tuesday.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, McGilberry, of Metairie, had picked up her phone from being repaired at Lakeside Mall's popular Apple store and asked about some so-called AirPods, which retail for roughly $160. She indicated she wouldn't purchase them, but then she walked out with them without paying for them while store staff watched, Sheriff's Office Lt. Jason Rivarde said.

Was she in uniform when she did this? In other words, was this done as a typical sneaky shoplifter or was is done in an “I’m a cop so what the frick are you gonna do about it?” manner?

So she just thought because she was a cop she could walk out of the store with them? She would have made a great officer what a shame.

$100 says she gets suspended (with pay) while they investigate and then when things calm down and people forget she quietly serves a 14 day suspension.
NO WAY the current administration, or the incoming one, is going to authorize firing of a minority female officer. Hell, they may offer her a promotion when it is said and done for being so old school NOPD about the whole thing.
