That's nice. But things weren't at such a boil years ago like they are now.

Maybe tourism will go down. Maybe it won't. Doesn't matter to me. I just love seeing mitch the bitch royally frick up everything he touches.

I do love a good dumpster fire. And currently, new Orleans is definitely the biggest around me.

You know the police in Amsterdam dress in civilian attire and walk around the city streets observing goings on. Eventually the NOPD will have to come to the same evolution in policing the Quarter.

It's already done during Mardi Gras. I would not be surprised if it is done all the time.

Are you saying New Orleans crime is typical?

My aunt owns a boutique hotel in the FQ. She was talking with the company that manages the property (and a number of larger hotels in the city) and they were saying how many people and conferences have started to cancel on them

Sam's Boat is coming to Katy. I will walk through the doors somewhere in 2018 and the beer will be like a fountain of youth. I will be 25 again and the gray will fade from my goatee.

Sad to see NOLA. These threads have been on here for years. the people who defended and made excuses are going away. These crimes have crept into very populated areas and very normal times of day or night. I would be nervous in NOLA now period. To "close down" a bar in the FQ and walk back to my hotel would be unthinkable now.

I say it all the time. The city is one major event away from the abyss. Lester Holt or (name a news person) standing in front of a mound of flowers on a fence around Jackson Square. Doing the nightly broadcast.

Also, may have some vigilantes eventually. Some dude with a CHL walking around the Quarter looking to shoot a guy. Some 16 year old kid who WILL BE up to no good will get half his head blown off, and then it will be all out insanity. the streets will be littered with dropped race cards.

Population growth slowed down to a halt last year, can't see that getting any better. Who gives a shite about conventions if tax paying residents are leaving.

So that's why murder went up 70% in Q1.

Nuffin to see here guys. Just normal city activity

Being in the top five or higher for murder rate is not "typical."

Of course I love my city and will take up for it when I can. I agree the crime is really bad and has been too bad for my entire life... the upward tick in violent crime is unsettling.

But I will also say, that the biggest change overall has been the 24hour news cycle and all the 'wolves is unraveling' Chicken littles that have gotten progressively worse over the years. Just look at the national news everyday. You see people saying 'yeah you have to watch your kids more closely, there are so many crazies out there these days' and this is across the board nationally. Every single thing is broadcasted now and everyone has some hot take on face book. 15 years ago people in BR would have maybe read a little about the statues in the advocate. Now every redneck in New Roads is spending several hours a day online talking about BANNOLA and how they are done with the city
