These kids were also toddlers when Katrina happened and were exposed to some pretty awful conditions during and following the storm. Not using this as an excuse for their present behavior but the summer of 05 definitely messed them up.

Chief incel of the OT, NIH, should check out and read into Cafe Reconcile and how the culinary and hospitality training helped rehabilitate some of these bad eggs.

I'm wasn't making excuses for them. Simply pointing out that most crime and poverty can be traced back to single parent homes and people not raising their children yet it seems to never be the focus of conversation.

The obvious question is why do these parents do such a poor job of raising their children? Shouldn’t we try to figure out the cause of that and try to fight it?

Because in a lot of these cases, the kids are nothing more than an additional check. This problem will persist and grow until the government figures out that paying people to reproduce is not a good policy.

No one wants to talk about single parent failures so we're left blaming things on schools, teachers, cops, politicians.

I'd be willing to bet every one of these kids/teenagers grew up in a single parent home or with their grandparents or an aunt-T.
