Those are some short little frickers.

NOLA must be trying to beef up the bantamweight division of the criminal corps.

Yes, thats whats is so frustrating about NOPD and the Mayor boasting about these arrest.....

these little frickers should have already been locked away...

and now, the city and NOPD will get a pat on the back....then these little shite stains will be back on the streets in 60 days or however long they have to stay locked up before the DA drops the charges.

I heard on the news the other night that the cities juvenile prison can only hold 48 kids. What a joke

Well there are plenty of empty warehouses in the East they can lock them up in.

This story lends credence to the theory that the vast majority of serious and violent crime is committed by a very small percentage of the population.

On that note though, you have to know that NOPD catches this group of thugs and thinks "frick it, lets clear up the rest of these unsolved crime stats" while piling on the charges. I want to see the evidence linking these guys to each of those crimes beyond "they were in the area at the time it occurred."

Muh Juvenile Justice

We need more of those outreach programs. Slam poetry, sewing clubs, midnight basketball. Need to reach these youths. Maybe some anti-crime marches for good measure.

Those programs stop kids from stealing a candy bar at 11 pm because they are bored. They aren't gonna stop people from carjackings and shooting people.

Think about all the times you were punished, spanked, grounded, and scolded by both parents after doing something wrong.

Now imagine how you’d turn out if no one was around to teach you right from wrong.

I don’t think I would have ended up like these fellas, but you have a point.

The obvious question is why do these parents do such a poor job of raising their children?
Shouldn’t we try to figure out the cause of that and try to fight it?

I was being facetious

There's no hope for this kind of problem. No one wants to talk about single parent failures so we're left blaming things on schools, teachers, cops, politicians. You know, everyone but whom the blame lies with. You either hope the problem is gentrified away or you move away.

There was 14 years ago after Katrina when most of these kids were still babies.....they couldn't even walk yet...think about that!!

The city and parents had a chance to fix it but man, what a missed opportunity.

Oh NOLA was so fun to visit in 05-06. This sort of problem had just been cleansed. For a while.

I'd be willing to bet every one of these kids/teenagers grew up in a single parent home or with their grandparents or an aunt.
