there's no doubt these rain events are occurring more often and at an higher intensity at least in part because of coastal erosion. Whether or not you believe that's tied to climate change is another discussion but it's not *totally* off the mark

The fact that he even referenced climate change makes it seem like ole Mitch told him to sandbag the pumps just to give his ridiculous climate change statements credibility.

Give me some science to back that up please.

literally live in the absolute lowest of the lowest part of New Orleans, the bottom of the bowl and the water didn't even get over the curb on my street.
Text my buddy this morning, he recently built at Cartier and Soilders and water never got even above the curb into his driveway

The timing of a "climate change related" event is just a little suspicious.

I plus like to see a white guy from the Netherlands take Cedric's job ASAP

Well, it's not really debatable that we are in an era of climate change...
We are always in some kind of era of climate change.
But, the concept of global warming is a poor excuse for a specific flood, if that's what he was getting at.

You don't think eroding wetlands is part of the cause for increased storm and rain issues?

quote:If you look at annual total rainfall for NOLA for the past 30 years it appears totally random. (ie 130 inches in 1995, 51 inches in 2013). Each year is different with absolutely no pattern towards increasing rain totals. Now, I have no idea where to find stats on intense storm frequencies.
there's no doubt these rain events are occurring more often and at an higher intensity at least in part because of coastal erosion.

This stuff did not happen when Obama was in charge. Bush and trump have it out for NOLA.

Since the entire flooded areas are surrounded by levies the coastal erosion has no impact.
You can't tell me the new pumps at the 17th canal couldn't move that water faster than it did.
Clog drains were the issue no doubt.
The rainfall varied throughout the city.
The idea that those storms were something new is just crazy.

There's doubt.
Right fricking here.
Why would rainfall be strongly correlated to erosion? By that argument it'll be raining heavily on a weekly basis in Grand Isle.

...you're going to have to explain this

I want to see the "tied to global warming not completely off the mark" science.
Last I checked, the levee system wasn't built by global warming.

New Orleans doesn't take an effort to clean at all so I doubt they are keeping the pipes clean.
Posted on 8/7/17 at 8:44 am to The Mick
Holy frick I've been looking at pictures from this weekend and how in the blue hell the water got that high with no incoming surge??
Doesn't Orleans parish pay high arse property taxes to make sure this doesn't happen?
My folks live on the Wank (yeah yeah) and they had no water at all.

Make a definitive claim like that, you better be ready to back it up.
