there's no doubt these rain events are occurring more often and at an higher intensity at least in part because of coastal erosion.

Yeah, because if we hadn't lost all that coastal land, the levees would've been able to do their job and keep all that water out

Berni acknowledged that Sewerage & Water Board Executive Director Cedric Grant made a communications misstep Saturday in blaming the flooding on climate change — at the same moment that many streets remained under inches of water.

Williams said that while he is a believer in climate change, it would be "completely unacceptable" to blame possibly malfunctioning pumps on global warming.

Why is anyone surprised that anyone in any capacity that is viewed to be in a position of leadership would say this?

NOLA is officially a "Progressive" run city. Has been for a while.

In "Progressive" cities across the US, you have pockets of high crime, ridic taxes, terrible public schools, and leadership that misappropriates the tax dollars from the few producers it has left to placate the masses that create the problems I listed above.

The NOLA leadership would rather spend millions on SJW movements to gain more votes than to actually protect its citizens from crime and environment. Then, when something like this shines a light on their failure, Progressive leaders do what Progressive leaders do: blame someone or something else.

There is no way there was less than 2 inches of total rainfall in Metairie.

Prawn,

I think a bunch of people are waiting for draconian to reply to the cause / effect of coastal erosion and heavy rain events.

I have work to do. maybe i will check back in later.

I don't think it rained 2.74 inches in mandeville Saturday. We were in the river all day.

The NOLA Sewage & Water Board is one of, if not the most, corrupt & poorly managed of any city agency. And just look at how those members got those positions. And Mitch was focusing on statutes?

The pumps at the outfall canals were off. Read the article on the Hayride about Landrieu being MIA on Saturday (supposedly he was in Aspen). Even if the outfall pumps are only supposed to be used for named storms (which I doubt is true), certainly it could not hurt to switch them on for an event like Saturday, and save property owners millions in flood damage and save the City and the SWB a PR disaster. But then again, that would require intelligent people in positions of power...

That clearly isn't Berni in the truck, but it was hilarious that those rednecks ruined his Facebook page for a few weeks.

I loved seeing his little bitch arse squirm yesterday...his Bitch Master is back in NOLA today and tomorrow there is a town hall meeting to discuss these events from Saturday..I have a feeling this wont go well for anyone within the city or S&WB.
