Those vaccines did more to handle this pandemic than any bar closure or mask.

Vaccines haven’t stopped anything. They haven’t prevented infections or vaccinated people dying. Spring, and people getting some Sun, Vit D are the only things running the numbers down.....

As was always going to be the case.

The surge and drop off in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb does coincide with normal cold/flu season but I’m sure the vaccine helped as well.

Meh. Maybe part true, but vaccines and herd immunity is also playing a big part.
I seem to remember several parts of the country got hit hard last summer. That kind of through the whole premise out the window that many had at the time that warm weather and people being in the sun was supposed to beat Covid down.

tgrbait2008 promised us that candidates would be lining up to run against her with funding from the super relevant New Orleans business community

If you're talking about me....I never said anyone would be "lining up to run against her" Not sure why you're lying here. No one is lining up to run against her.

If you're talking about someone else then carry on

However, this article was posted this weekend in re: to the mayoral race

Why no major challenger is expected for LaToya Cantrell in New Orleans mayoral race

quote:

The only organized opposition to Cantrell's reelection bid is a group of businesspeople who have been unhappy with her coronavirus restrictions

quote:

A group of businesspeople who opposed Cantrell’s restrictions since early in the pandemic — initially voicing their frustrations in a full-page newspaper ad last April — are searching for potential candidates to carry their banner and have narrowed the options down to three people, said former City Councilman Jay Batt.

Batt owns Jos. A Banks clothing stores in the area and said COVID-19 restrictions led to the shuttering of his downtown location.

“It’s not safe and you can’t do business. What are the two primary things that government is supposed to take care of?” he said.

quote:

Cantrell is sitting on a war chest of more than $427,000. That’s far less than the $1.4 million Landrieu or Nagin had six months before their re-elections, but nearly twice what she had heading into her first run.

I'm still holding out some hope that they can find the right Democrat to beat her.....she's beatable.

Look what happened to Karen Carter Peterson.....she had the whole left progs backing her and Troy Carter took 55% of that vote.......the voters voted against Wokeness.

quote:

Gary Chambers Jr., the Baton Rouge social justice advocate, and from such national progressive icons as U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Georgia’s Stacey Abrams.
all endorsed Karen Carter

Same can be done against Latoya

It's spring in France and Gemany, yet they are having to lockdown. The difference is vaccines!

I have a bookmarked post from you somewhere saying she had no shot of winning re-election. I'll see if I can find it.

I remember you being pretty strong willed about her facing some good candidates and no way she would win.

It's all good. I'm just pointing out what I remember. I'm not going to pull a LCHBOX and spend the next two hours finding your post and arguing down to the exact details.

That article says it all - a Jos A. Bank’s franchisee and former Lakeview council member is the backbone of the business community’s effort to oust Cantrell.

She really is a garbage human being, but NOLA deserves her more than ever. I've got zero sympathy for those people.

I'd admit...yes I was very confident someone would step in the ring and challege her....and I was confindent whoever that was would beat her. But it would have to be a strong Dem...I even posted a list of names that I thought could beat her.

I'm still holding out some hope.

frick I'd even donate for Mandi Landry to run against her

Well I dont think the restaurateurs want to come out in public but I know for a fact them including one of the founders of Walk Ons and Billy Nungessor had a meeting with her a couple weeks ago about turning the Quarter into a Gaslamp Quarter like in San Diego and she ran them out her office saying that was her French Quarter and no one was taking it away
