I believe the guy speaking now is a city attorney. He looks familiar. If so, he may be looking for a new job.
is he for or against removal?

Someone please enlighten me. I thought that federal law prohibited the removal of these protected monuments. Wouldn't this vote just be for show?

It's not about "hurt feelings, PC, etc". Louisiana shouldn't and won't be represented by figures who headed outdated, racist ideals. Not sure why this is so difficult to grasp.
Ban all Naval monuments that have anything to do with history?
How about aircraft?
Feeling triggered yet with all of this nostalgia?

Against. He just shat all over the procedure of this vote. And said you just can't delete history.

Fascism is pretty outdated. Can we get rid of our current Mayor?
But it goes even further. I bet King Luis owned slaves, time to pull that fleur de lis off the walls. Did you know it was branded onto runaway slaves and criminals as a way of marking them? So offended-its got to go.
Then, you have Andrew Jackson, the genocidal maniac. He killed innocent civilians. Also has to go.
Bourbon street and Storyville, don't even get me started. I can smell that from 1400 miles away. Time to level that Soddom and Gemmorah.
I could go on and on about "offensive" symbols in this city. Why stop there?

This is a fricking fiasco.

There really is no need to hate someone who thinks differently than you. I know it's the norm here, but it's really a damaging way to go about life

Ah, the old "educate yourself before you speak" post. Never fails.
Why don't you do me a favor and read Lee's letter to his wife involving the recently enacted Emancipation Proclamation.
Here is an excerpt for you:
"The painful discipline they are undergoing is necessary for their instruction as a race... How long their subjugation may be necessary is known and ordered by a wise Merciful Providence,"-- Lee
He clearly viewed blacks as property and the struggles they were going through as justified. Lee owned slaves. Even after his father in law died and asked in his will that the slaves be set free, Lee kept them until his plantation was in a better financial standing.
Lee said slavery is an evil that must and will end.
Lincoln said blacks posses traits that make equality impossible, he always wants white people to be dominant and he would never make black people jurors or equals.

Removing a statue or flag and putting it in a museum=deleting history?
Got it.
Got it.

I want Lee for my office. Any idea what they are going to do with them when they come down?

Then why are they leaving the Jackson statue in Jackson Square? He was a genocidal maniac.

Mitch is probably worried that Jackson's crazy arse will rise from the grave and challenge him to a duel.

Never mind the crumbling streets and decrepit city services, they've got important shite like this to take care of right now.
