Why is this like pulling teeth for some people?
Are you also for tearing down the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument?
They believed and represented many of the same beliefs of Lee.
How do you feel about that?

This is never going to solve any problems. I hate Landrieu for continuing this bullshite. Why is it that we're the only city in America still focused on this? There are so many bigger issues with the city. No wonder everyone laughs at us.

If these statues are so "troubling" and the represent "everything wrong with our past" why not leave them up as a reminder of "how far we have come?"
I just find this whole thing ridiculous. What the mullet flap SJW doesn't get is that many people (like myself) are upset that giving in to people crying and whining about such trivial things is the new norm and to say anything in opposition gets you labeled as either a racist or misogynistic or something something white privilege.

Should have seen this coming when Mitch started giving the cabbies a hard time, but you reelected him.

No. I did not.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me the connection between these monuments and changing the murder culture in NOLA.
I grew up in the city. It is nothing like it used to be, and it makes me sad. I am absolutely proud and aware of its history, and there is no other city like it in the world.
What is happening is a travesty, and Landrieu should burn in hell for this. We all know the reason he is doing it, hell, his sister and father laid the blueprints for this during their times in their respective office.
Pandering in the truest definition of the word. The question is, where do you draw the line on this removal shite? What qualifies as offensive and what doesn't? Can you enlighten all of us? What would happen if a group suddenly stood up and decried the number of streets named "MLK Blvd."?

This.
Also, the way they do the timing is so sadly one sided that it's offensive. Every pro-statue person is getting run straight away at the buzzer. The SJWs are getting all the time in the world.

This lady wants a public vote. I like that.

Your 1st amendment rights wouldn't mean anything and you would be labeled a racist. Welcome to the new norm.

Lee said slavery is an evil that must and will end.
I'm aware. I'm simply saying in the same letter he more or less says it is the will of God for them to go through this..not to mention that Lee owned many slaves himself. (I always hear people say that he didn't)

Lincoln
I haven't seen this but wouldn't be surprised given the time period. My argument isn't that the North was flawless in their own right. Of course many in the north owned slaves. Moreso im arguing that defeating an army that declared slavery a right and fought for that right was incredibly important to our country's history and evolution as a society.

The cheers from the audience about taking down all the monuments in DC show me a sad future for this nation.

Sad, but likely true.

Move along. Nothing to see here. Just some white privilege. Honestly, nobody would care if somebody got up and said something about MLK Boulevard. If it doesn't meet the MM/SJW narrative you aren't going to get any notice/airtime.

This guy just made the slippery slope argument for those opposed to the ordinance.

The crowd cheered when she sarcastically suggested to go to Washington and tear down all the statues there
Posted on 12/17/15 at 11:22 am to Biggereztiger
Great BLM just interrupted the meeting.

someone needs to throw a fricking shoe at that fat bitch in the pink behind the podium.
Seriously.
Seriously.
