Noise/Cell Phone Etiquette in Public

There is none anymore. People walking around on FaceTime and loud speaker is annoying too. All kinds of trash. I realize our Venezuelan "newcomers" love doing this crap too. People listening to music on speaker. Didn't help when phones started to move to Bluetooth only and took the aux connection away.

It's like hells dump truck driver just dumped his load all over our society.

I was on a flight recently and on both legs of the journey the cabin crew reminded everyone that if their devices were not on silent or on headphones they would not be allowed to use them. Shut everyone up pretty quickly. Southwest, fyi.

I guess the message is getting out that this type of behavior is annoying AF

They didn’t have an insurance card to give the check in desk…

Good description?

At a doctor's office

Should have mentioned it to the doctor. There use to be "no cell phone" signs in wait rooms. At least say you have to be ear buds in if wayching something and no phone conversations.

It’s ridiculous how these people are so self unaware. When I make a call the last thing I want is people hearing it no matter who I am talking to.

I step out away from people if possible or just speak in a very low tone. Really quite simple.

I was shopping for groceries last week. A woman was standing in the aisle talking on her phone and describing a recent sexual encounter in great detail.

If the conversation is loud enough that I can hear both ends, Ill just join the conversation.

I've done that at the grocery store a few times. One lady called me rude, and the guy on the phone with her laughed and said I wasn't the rude one there (was old enough to be her dad, but you never know)

I work in a doctor's office and I hate it. We politely tell them that there is no cellphone use back here, if you need to make a call, please step out.
What really gets me is how rude they are after being told that. 90% of the time, the call isn't even important. Usually a lot of mumbling or yelling, never in-between.
I'm in NOLA so I'll let everyone fill in the blanks on type of people...

We are traveling this weekend, and as soon as our plane touched down, a guy near me immediately made a business phone call (not on speakerphone, but full voice volume).

Do you want no talking on airplanes?

If you are fine with people talking with each other in-person on airplanes, then someone should be able to talk on a phone.

You could yell things for the person on the other end to hear.

"He's lying - we're in Cancun together!"

"STD Clinic - who's next for testing?"

Or bring a fart machine and hold it up near the phone and let it rip. I actually saw the fart machine idea suggested as a way to keep people away from you in public. Might have to start carrying one. Or eating more Mexican.

Someone got triggered by reading a thread calling out for his trashy behavior. Be better.

One time I was at a urinal when a guy walks up to the one next to me, having a loud conversation with his girlfriend on FaceTime. I had to zip up and use a stall so I'd be out of view.

I wanted to smack that phone out of his hand.

Probably my biggest pet peeve considering these cocksuckers could text like the rest of us folks. I assume anyone doing that is fricking illiterate!

And here it is…….no concept of using an inside voice or talking only to the person next to you vs talking to the whole plane or the whole doctors office or the whole checkout line.

Boy this is a major issue I have with people these days. Look I hate holding the phone up to my ear as much as anyone else. However, if i'm in public or around anyone else, I have the freaking common courtesy to use my headphones.

Common places I see this:
- Grocery stores
- Gas stations
- Walmart/target
- Airports might be the worst of them (going through security and even on the plane)
- Office settings
- Dr Office
- Everywhere else pretty much

That and playing TicTok/FB videos on max volume without headphones.

I love my phone and admit being addicted to it like most people, but you won't catch me creating noise polution like an inconsiderate prick.

TLDR: Get off my lawn.
