An internal inquiry "found that the cadets did not pre-plan or set out to make a political statement," West Point's superintendent, Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen Jr., said in a letter to the student body.

That is such horse shite. It wasn't a planned political statement?

Selective enforcement of the rules leads to selective respect for the rules.

But what could possibly go wrong if our service-PEOPLE stop respecting military conduct rules?

No big deal I'm sure.

So basically he is saying West Point cadet graduates are mouth breathing morons who don't know what a raised first means while segregating themselves in an all black photo.

Good for them.

Such a rare moment in time and we as viewers are fortunate enough to be able to view this random act of solidarity.

Be thankful and "Thank You" cadets for your service to our country.

Not shocked one single bit.

The only thing that would have been punished is if white guys and girls did a form of white power salute. Then, well then, oh that would have been enough to get them kicked completely out of school and names ruined for any other jobs or schools.

But nope, not black power. That's just being proud of your race.

I actually am shocked at this. I thought West Point/the Army was above this. I mean for fricks sake they banned together by race and made a symbol that means "black power." How the hell is that allowed in an organization that is supposed to be faceless, colorless, etc Etc?

This is not a big deal and not a news worthy story. I get the whole political statement in uniform argument but this doesnt feel like activism. Seems more like the black females on campus are just proud to be black and took a picture in a pose made famous by blacks during civil rights. I'm fine with this

I'm sure they have a couple hundred white guys that are proud to be white. You cool with them posing for pictures wearing their pillow cases?

Of course. It's cool to be fine with everything. Except judgment and OMG that awful thing discriminating thought. We can't have any of that.

Well then they learned nothing at West Point. They aren't black. They aren't females. They are officers in the United States of America

I would be surprised if the majority of them were still on active duty 6 years from now....

Well just being black in an all black group has political implications doesn't it? Or just being black period based on the responses in the initial topic.

Then you should be equally as "cool" with 16 white cadets posing with a flag that says White Power.

Both have zero place for Army Officers
