The Barnacle — an opaque piece of plastic held in place by two suction cups and 750 pounds of force — makes it nearly impossible for a driver to drive away, even if they think they can cleverly stick their head out of the window.

Depending on how much you've got logged in parking tickets, won't there be cases where it's cheaper just to replace the windshield?

There's no way someone can't cut that seal on the suction cups. It at least would be easier than removing the boot. Or, just rip the damned windshield out and pay the 100 deductible with my insurance to replace

Over/under on how long until someone hops in this car with this thing on and tries to drive it home Ace Ventura style. They crash into another car and they BOTH sue the city.

I give it a week.

I'll leave my windshield wipers in the up position when parking illegally.

Yup. That boot is a game stopper.

On a side note, does anyone remember that show "Parking Wars" that followed the Philadelphia Transit Authority around as they booted cars? That show was fricking great.

While a good thought, all they will have to do is pull them away from the windshield to apply THE BARNACLE!
