Hadn't seen this before this morning--at the Breaux Mart on Magazine St in the GD, there are "No Cash Accepted" signs posted on the door.
Baw in front of me in line tried to pay cash, cashier said no way, he started to make a scene and called for the manager, who said the decision came from HQ. He left very angry and with no food....

Why didn't you help him out and offer to take his cash and pay for his food with your card?

shite, I've been paying with my android wallet everywhere I go that accepts it. Now way I touch cash or the CC machine unless I can avoid it while a pandemic is ongoing.

Pretty sad if he couldn't pull out a debit or credit card.

They don’t want the cashiers handling infected cash

It's not illegal on a national basis
There are cities (and maybe states) that restrict going cashless on the basis that the poor don't have bank accounts.

Only for the government to refuse cash. Private businesses can accept whatever form of payment they choose. For instance, Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta doesn't accept cash at any concession stand. It's not ideal for a lot of people, but certainly lawful, although some states may have laws that require cash to be accepted.

You think in 2020 is the first time you've touched a dirty dollar?
I often wonder how many bills I have touched that have been used to sniff coke out of hookers buttholes....

Name change to Baw Mart...

I’d be tempted to leave the cash on the counter and take the groceries. They don’t stop thieves so what are they going to do to a guy who paid?

Didn't the mayor say she's not arresting anyone for theft? Just walk out with it.
