He is a delivery driver.
If he is in a large metro area having a smaller truck to get around versus a full-size vehicle might help.
At the end of the day anything he saves by keeping his truck longer is more money in his pocket.

156k on my 2005 BMW. I put so much money into it that it is essentially a new car and I hope to ride it to well over 200k

I used to average about 25-30k a year when I had a job that required travel. Plus, a Million miles over 14 years is only 71k a year. For a truck that is running almost all day 5 days a week, not bad. Assuming a 240 day a year job, just shy of 300 miles a day. Definitely doable. Miserable, but doable.

Had an 87 Dodge D150 (gas burner) that had 595,000 miles on it when I got rid of it. Grandpa bought it new, rebuilt the engine at 250, rebuilt it again at 500. It didn't have anything wrong with it either time. He considered it "routine maintenance".
I got it at 550k. It was pretty tired when I pulled it out the weeds at his farm. I put new tires, rear drum brakes, and master cylinder and she was back on the road. I rode it until 575k then the transmission went out. I used that opportunity to swap the 227 slant 6 motor for a 318 v8. Ran great until I sold it at 595,000 miles for $1,500. I wish I would have kept it. It was a great truck. The air never worked when I owned it but at the time I didn't know any better. I had to keep a rubber mallet under the driver seat to give the starter a tap on cold days. I redid the bench seat since it was worn slap out. Other than that, great rig.

It still has the original engine and tranny. Did a head gasket on it about a year ago.
I think I have done 3 water pumps, 3 timing chains, 2 radiators, a distributor, 1 AC compressor, high pressure power steering line. 3-4 master cylinders and a brake booster.
Plus a shitload of oil, wix filters, tires, batteries, brakes etc.
Awesome truck. Dependable and easy to work on.

My 3.5 year old truck had 8k on it when I bought it and has 28k on it now. It's been to Missouri, Orange Beach a few times, Birmingham 5-6 times.

35,000 miles per year on your vehicle (which I would imagine is quite a bit of driving compared to most) would still take 29 years plus to hit a million.
