Nike has pulled all Kobe Bryant-related items from its online store in the wake of the basketball icon’s death.

The company confirmed the decision to pull the items with ESPN’s Nick DePaula as it reevaluates its strategy on how to handle the signature gear of the late basketball great. Part of that strategy is limiting resellers’ ability to stockpile Kobe gear for the secondary market, according to the report.

Kap probably told them to do this or he'd accuse Nike of exploiting the death of a slave

Sounds like they are also trying to protect Kobe's estate to me.

How? I doubt his estate is directly tied to Nike.

I am sure his family would want to maximize value, as well. Maybe not now but they will appreciate it later.

They are also protecting the consumer as well.

I buy alot of stupid shite but I'm glad I never got caught up in paying $300 for a pair of sneakers I would trash in a year.

Is his estate thinking about shopping him to Adidas or Under Armour?

Resellers pay face value. Unless you think Nike should jack up the prices of Kobe gear after his death.
Nike should have just jacked up the production of Kobe gear, and the resellers would be fricked by oversupply.

wait...you don't think Kobe got a share of sales of HIS signature items?
ETA: I think it is more about being sensitive the the family's protentional feelings of exploitation by the stockpilers.

His estate gets paid off of its contract with Nike.

Bought my son these for Christmas. Nice shoe and no laces, just pull the red string and wires tighten all around.

Exploiting literal servants is Nike’s business model

There is 23 years of merchandise in circulation. I think that's enough to support the secondary market without Nike.

You used to be a better poster before all these weird preemptive melts.

And the resellers then up the price to profit off of his death.

Link to those shoes? I need to get my son a pair if they don't require tying

Wow, those are terrible. Lol

Did I say that?
His estate is worth $600 million. The temporary bump in a secondary market isn't going to hurt his estate at this point.
