Why are you worried about nicotine? Smoking is one thing, but nicotine in and of itself is not bad.

Not sure this is true. From what Ive read it can cause inflammation of the arteries and taxes the heart.

If you've never seen "The INsider" staring Russel Crowe and Al Pacino it's really good.

All about big tobacco.

I quit dipping by using a tobacco alternative dip and just lowered my consumption for like 3-4 months. Made going cold turkey easier, but it was still rough.

My mouth still waters thinking about a lip, but it’s alright now. That shite is honestly so nasty

Cold turkey. Read the book by Alan Carr. It makes sense of the addiction. The first three days are terrible. Plan your quit when you have nothing else to do but sleep and be miserable. One you quit it is liberating.

Nicotine itself? In comparison to caffeine? In comparison to seed oils and the other food additives that you likely consume everyday? Meh.

For me every day has been like the day after I quit, hasn't gotten a bit easier.

I quit for about 6 months once. Similar experience but I started back. Props to you for keeping at it.

Microdosing lsd or psilocybin will help immensely.

There's a lot of info out there.

Yes. What Ive researched is smoking is a death sentence, vaping is a roulette wheel and nicotine alone adds to blood pressure/artery damage/heart issues. Caffeine can definitely play a roll in heart stuffs but we arent talking about that or seed oils as you mention. Nicotine alone is addictive. Its listed on the can/box etc.

I gave up dip and went to zyn as I was a casual dipper. 1-2 times\wk. when I had a few beers. Finally gave it all up when i thought it messes with my heart a while back

Anyone else can’t quit nic? I stopped vaping 60mg a week or two ago and switched to lozenges, which fill the void well enough. Quitting the lozenges would be unthinkable though

When I quit nic it feels like my iq drops 30 points no joke

I guilt by using vape, but not salt nic. That’s way too much. I used old school mod and tanks and went from a 6 nic to 3 nic, and then got local vape shop to custom add 1.5 nic to plain vape, and then just started buying 0 nic and kept vaping to satisfy the need to just have something to do.

Its a damn horrible thing to get hooked on. Im sure its not as bad as I feel like it is, but I still crave it often and could definitely get right back on the wagon tomorrow.

So you've bought in to the propaganda. That's fine. Smoking and vaping are not good for you. Hopefully you've stopped drinking too. That's not good for you either.

Haven’t had one since Saturday night. Don’t want one. The craving is gonna come when I am hanging out with friends and someone lights one up and then I’ll burn through a whole pack and feel like shite in the morning and just start over. Quitting has never been the issue.

It telling myself no when it’s available and I feel like it.

Stopped dipping Copenhagen after 45 years using it. Been 6 months and I still crave that stuff at times….Tough addiction to break.

nicotine binds to the GABA receptors in your brain

This is incorrect. Nicotine bonds to nicotinic acetylcholine (ACh) receptors and can promote release of GABA.

Remember that most people need multiple attempts to quit and success occurs usually by attempt #7 on average.

Therapies that work best should be tailored to the individual and are based on severity of the dependence/amount consumed.

Chantix (varenicline) has the highest efficacy because it actually binds to the same receptors. Vivid dreams may or may not happen.

Patches are best used with lozenge/gum/spray for breakthrough cravings.

If you struggle, see an addiction specialist as this is in their wheelhouse to treat.
