Obviously I’m interested in this or else I would have never posted a comment, yet you nor anyone else has answered my question as to why people want to see it.

A good bit of people have morbid curiosities about death. See the old VHS tapes faces of death that had a cult following and an extremely popular website that use to exist called liveleak that showed all kinds of death. Do you need a dissertation about it or something? I don’t get what is so hard to understand unless this is because you are personally effected and don’t want the video online. That’s understandable if you are grieving.

Both screenshots you posted were the splashes from his legs kicking.
But stopped, it looks like a shark’s tail. Well done spreading disinformation.

Tiresome are the folks on here saying they've seen the video because its being "shared by every teen in baton rouge", but its a step to far to post on TD.

This also goes hand in hand with SS saying the hypocrisy is rampant in here. Hundreds of videos are posted each month on here that are morbid, disgusting, sickening, etc. This one doesn’t have the same look, but because it’s someone local it shouldn’t be on here.

Thank you for this. Maybe I’m just a pansy and don’t like to see bad things happen. Obviously I know shot happens and yet I don’t want to see it. I simply wanted someone to explain to me why they wanted to see footage of this kid dying. Again for a he 20th time - no judgement, simply an inquiry.

IMO the only thing upsetting about the video is knowing that was the last time he was seen alive and that it was likely not that long after when he died.

If someone watched it and didn't know what happened after it wouldn't really be anything that interesting except for a spit second of what appeared to be a shark by the life circle.

I don’t think the kid is actually dying in that video tho. I guess if you think a shark got him then maybe he is dying but I don’t think that is what this video shows. It’s like watching videos from 9/11 of firefighters going into the twin towers.

Did they ever find a body?

If it was my kid, I'd want to know how they died, not just that they jumped off the boat. This wasn't a cruise ship. Why couldn't they be rescued? What exactly happened?

All legit questions. Usually life vests have bright lights and trackers on them. You would hope those would have been around too. But once you are out at sea, especially at night, you are very unlikely to survive. Wonder what the water temp was too.

I don’t know what the video shows, but it’s the last moments of that kid’s life. I don’t want to see it, I’m not judging those that do, I just want to know why they felt compelled to watch it. For the 19,000 time, I’m not judging anyone, I just want to know why they watched it bc it runs so counter to my reaction.

My opinion is show the video to your kids. Tell them what happened. If it hits hard, good. They will remember it and one day they may decide not to do something stupid.

Curiosity. Could use it as a teaching moment for parents of kids close to the young man’s age.

If a shark ate him right when he jumped off, everyone watching him would be screaming in that video

Yes he does start kicking, then the attacks happen and just before the camera pans he begins going down. When the camera turns back that way you can see a light spot of him submerged. Coincidence? I understand tricks of video but that’s not what this is. Understand it all happens in a flash so you need slow motion frame by frame to truly tell.

Real life isn't a Jaws movie. If a 6 ft bull shark grabs your ankle you might not have time to scream. I'm not saying that's what happened either.

Are you saying you can see a shark attack on the video?

this is the real reason I watched the video - I’ve been following this thread - so when someone said possible shark attack and then I googled shark attacks in the Bahamas and then mapped the locations of all of this - curiosity got me

So I watched. Not sure if it’s a shark attack, but I don’t think it’s impossible with the way he disappears
