So I watched. Not sure if it’s a shark attack, but I don’t think it’s impossible with the way he disappears
I'm not convinced either but I'd say it's certainly possible. That kid seemed to be fairly confident in the water and then he was suddenly gone.

I have watched it and I can’t see anything grab and pull him under. It just looks like the light from the boat isn’t on him anymore and he disappeared into the night.

It's still not immediately apparent what caused that kid to go under the water imo.
When I saw the frame by frame I saw the shark clearly grab his leg. I can’t imagine how horrifying this was for everyone to witness. My hearts hurts for his family.

Looks more like he started to feel the boat props pulling him towards the boat, so he was swimming away from the pull of the boat. Once the boat passed, it was pitched black and there was no way he was going to find the bouy then.

Many people have answered your question.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but why aren't we hearing from any of the people on the boat if that's the case? Surely someone would have seen this.

I think he was swimming away because of the sharks or from whatever was splashing in the water. I think kids were saying he was a goner when they realized those were sharks.

Because we wanna figure out what happened. In no way is it clear that it’s a video of the kid dying. Happy? Now frick off.

Lol. All the “my kid was on the boat” stories we heard and you don’t think “they watched the sharks eat him” would have been told?

Because people on the boat saw what we did the first time. It happened so fast. I never caught it the first time I watched but when you go frame by frame you can even see where the shark moves fast swimming toward him, he turns to swim away and when the video pans back you can see him swimming and then the shark comes from under him to grab his leg.

Can easily see why the people on the boat didn’t see the shark in the dark of night in dark waters.

Yeah we get it. And I am not sure what answer you are looking for. But like others have said, its like passing a wreck on the interstate or a train wreck or whatever. Its pretty much human nature to want to look.
What kind of answer are you looking for?

Goddammit. Now I feel like I need to see the frame by frame.

Jesus H, some of you are delusional. The shark you think you are seeing between him and the buoy is light reflecting off a wave.

Yes he does start kicking, then the attacks happen and just before the camera pans he begins going down. When the camera turns back that way you can see a light spot of him submerged. Coincidence? I understand tricks of video but that’s not what this is. Understand it all happens in a flash so you need slow motion frame by frame to truly tell. Are you saying you can see a shark attack on the video
This is not true at all. There is a slowed version of the video and the last he is seen is when the phone pans over the netting toward the end. You can see him just barely when a light shines and he is seen through the net. You can see both arms and his head above water floating to the rear of the boat. After that, the phone pans back left before circulating around to the net again and then turns off. There is not a shark attack on video.

Agreed.
No one is screaming "shark attack" on the video, although that doesn't exclude the option. In fact, a woman's voice screams "the current..." while the male voice expresses concern that he's gone ("bye").
I have wondered if he got caught up in the undercurrent of the turbulent water coming of the massive propeller of this massive vessel, and that is what pulled him down.

my nephew was on the boat and he hasn’t said anything about sharks or an attack

The kid saying "bye" got me. If that were me, I'd think about that moment for the rest of my life.

I have thought about this as well. Was this boat big enough and traveling at a high enough speed for that? Seems like it was barely moving but I'm hardly an expert on that.
