The idea that this "rubs" any of you at all is asinine.

provide us proof statistically this isn’t an issue that should “rub” anyone. Or shut the frick up, because you don’t live in Texas to begin with do you?

How do people deal with kids brought here illegally if you can’t find the parents? This is the type of issue I just don’t know how it resolves..

I believe Bill Gates and George Soros should step up here and make these kids whole.

Why should someone who crosses illegally be rewarded in the form of reduced tuition for their child?

They check a number of DEI boxes due to their origin, so they have the best chance of getting into UT, even if its as a provisional (make a 3.0 in gimme classes 1st semester, you get to stay)

Then they are eligible for aid and scholarships. There are preferences in place for this.

Overall, the numbers have apparently grown since I last looked. The Dallas Morning News reported about 57,000 students across all of Texas higher education claiming in-state tuition as illegals. That's wrong, when we charge American citizens from other states far more.

The only thing asinine is your lack of comprehension as to how the "free" stuff inevitably comes out of the taxpayer's pocket.

Those industries want cheap manual labor but do they need their cheap labor to go to college?

You’d think the Texas legislature would have repealed this law but apparently it was easier to go to the court and get it declared unconstitutional

The big ranches in particular had a lot of their management not just labor but the experience guys were from Mexico and yeah it was the inducement for the families

I worked with a girl in Houston whose dad was the cattle manager at King Ranch she was Latina first generation that went to college

Punishing kids for their parents mistakes is wild.

When did Conservatism become so cruel. Who hurt them? Who are they mad at? What deserves this anger inspite of what their Christian religion asks them to abide by?

It's really distasteful. Makes sense why the birthrate is done. Who would want to procreate with such mean spirited people?

Really makes you wonder how much inflation is caused by illegals. Remote 30 million illegals and their purchasing power, less demand, logically prices should go down, including tuition.

Give me a break, SS.

One of the most effective ways to reduce the incentive to illegally cross our border is to reduce the economic benefits the children of the illegals receive.

That’s because conservatives profit off illegal labor and it’s only recently become cool to hate all illegals.

You are correct, and that is a bit of a complicated situation. It was fine when workers were coming here illegally and sending money back to their families back home. Things changed when they started bringing their families with them to the States.

providing in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.

This is the terrible part, it's all free for illegals but those of us who have worked/paid taxes have to pay out the arse.

I have one going this year

If they can prove their family income is under $50,000 there's a program FAFSA which provides tuition/fees.

So if pops is working concrete, and being paid under the table, it's all FREE.
