Saw another article that said they left in the family helicopter. So one (or both) of them comes from some money

People always assume that. We grew up with a family helicopter and although we were (and are) exceptionally wealthy there are plenty of people that have helicopters and are not.

So right, there are businesses where having a helicopter is vital, but it does not mean the business is making the owners wealthy. Some of my family members have a business that requires equipment that cost more than a Bell Jet Ranger and cost about as much to maintain, but provides them with a middle class life style at best.

Goodness no. I got enough real problems I'm dealing with at the moment, not worrying about some silly football team. I haven't really watched an LSU game in forever. I laughed when I heard they lost last night.

Life just basically sucks. Enjoy happiness when you got it...cause it only lasts momentarily.

I get it, was being facetious. But I woke up to the Girl Scouts getting run down on the side of the road now I'm going to sleep with the newlyweds dying in the chopper crash. :/

Um yeah but this is about a very tragic event with this newlywed couple, not your family. Not everything is about you. Try to be more sensitive.

That's awfully nihilistic

Do they use them for personal toys at weddings?

Sucks for the family.

These words are as strong as a hundred acres of garlic. It's just a fact.

This is a internet message board for discussing a topic, not a funeral memorial page, and we are discussing that a family owning a helicopter is not indicative of having wealth. I could not care less if my comment is insensitive, and really by any stretch of my imagination can not see how it could be construed as such.

His family is 3 generations deep in civil, dirt, and railroad construction business in Texas, I've met up with his grandfather or dad numerous times to look at jobs all over south and east Texas, they'd be in the helicopter most of the time if it was very far from Houston. I can't imagine what they are going through, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in just minutes, prayers up for both families.

Why is it that the older you get,the less likely you would fly in helicopters, parachute out of planes, BASE jump, etc?
Seems counterintuitive. Figure the younger you are, the more you have to lose if something were to happen.
Regardless, I feel so bad for both families.

I used to be into mountain climbing. I wanted to climb Denali or some other big world class peak. I never made it that far, and it doesn't bother me. Whatever I was trying to prove to myself, I don't feel the need to prove any more.

Terrible tragedy

Big Ranchers with helicopters is pretty common in Texas

Flown in a 206L and 206B many times. Never really felt comfortable in them, so many of them are 70s era

OT is a macabre. Every time I venture over here there is some gawdawful tale of woe and misery.
Kids getting eaten by dogs.
Massive car wrecks
People missing.
Bodies found

People here must relish in the misery of others.
