I’d guess that’s a good thing, no?

If only all the assholes too irresponsible to own firearms would give theirs up too.

Fewer kids would find guns under car seats and in purses etc

Well this will be one for the history books to see how it plays out. Any guesses?

They'd need local law enforcement that is willing to arrest/shoot friends and family plus and a completely passive population

I fixed it for you. It is why is won't happen imho. Ditto the military turning on friends and family. I just don't see how a nationwide seizure of guns would ever work in this country.

I haven't checked, but I assume New Zealand is modelling their program similar to what Australia did.

Gun Control in Australia, 2017 Update

You can't compare Australia with America (too different legally, culturally, and the fact that Australia has fewer people than California), but I think it's fair to predict how things will go in New Zealand based on what happened in Australia (culturally closer, both Commonwealth nations).

It looks like our rates in the U.S. went down more after the mid to late 90's without gun control.

We don't really know who owns what in the US. We'll never see gun confiscation. Not in my lifetime at least.

It happened during Katrina...

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

i have many friends that feel just as strongly as many on this board on the issue. but i'm fairly confident if they have to choose between turning over their guns or getting into a shootout with the feds when they show up to take them, they are gonna hand them over. they will always put their kids/family in the house above their guns

This is such a cucked values system. Imagine if the founders of this nation had all pussed out because muh wife and kidz. That soft family man bullshite isn't how you earn liberty.

Why do people always assume the baws are gonna go toe to toe with the 82nd airborne division when it comes down to the civil war? That would be silly. See what you do is conduct a campaign of terror and murder. Kill cops while they’re leaving their house in the way to work. Threaten the children of politicians and reporters who support confiscation. Ambush the convoy of trucks bringing fuel to the army. Pay or threaten the payroll person at the police department so local cops don’t get paid.

That’s how you fight an insurgency, not by getting into gunfights with the feds. I of course wouldn’t do any of this. I’d turn my guns like a good citizen. And go back to my Netflix like I’m supposed to.

Don't forget breaking into the police station to steal confiscated guns and selling them on the black market

That would go over like a wet fart. The feds don't have the man power to seize a billion guns. They'd need local law enforcement and a completely passive population.
Dude do you realize that it only took 15%-20% of the population to whip the British asses in the revolutionary war

It's almost like we have a blueprint from Vietnam, OIF, and OEF.

Not that I would do such a thing. Tragically I lost all my firearms in a boating accident.

Government will sell the guns directly to the black market and reap 10x what they paid the sheeple.

I'd sell most of mine for the market value here in the states.
