Right, they offer different things, but NO is not even close to being on the same level as NYC.

Austin is a sweltering borefest. Great for jobs, but lame after a few months' exposure.

my opinion, there are only a few truly distinct cultural cities in this country: New York Boston Chicago San Francisco Austin New Orleans
Austin does not belong on there.

You could MAYBE try to compare New Orleans to ONE of the outer Burroughs, and even that is a stretch
You’re talking about the cultural and economic engine that drives the civilized world. Any one that makes this comparison just sounds retarded.

Culture: New Orleans has a distinct culture. NYC is just an amalgamation.
This is stupid. New orleans’s culture was created from an amalgamation. NYC definitely has its own culture.

Apples and oranges comparison. There’s very little similar about what I’ve seen in NYC, and New Orleans. Completely different experiences.
I was talking to a friend who’s lived in a few places around the world, and asked him if Hong Kong was anything like NYC. His answer: “There’s no place in the world that’s like New York.”

Two different places I’d take a lot of places over NYC

People in New York are absolute pieces of shite and will burn you to the ground to get ahead.
But the city itself is on another planet compared to NOLA.

Having been to all of those cites I can say that regardless of culture New Orleans is the only one that is a true $hithole.
