Got into a discussion today with a colleague. I think New Orleans is better.

Culture: New Orleans has a distinct culture. NYC is just an amalgamation.

Food: pizza? Or crawfish Étouffée?

Fleet week is fun but can any city compare to Mardi Gras? Our city never sleeps either.

Obvious troll is obvious.

They don’t even deserve to be in the same sentence, much less the same conversation.

Let me guess - you went and saw Times Square and think you know about New York? How was The Lion King from the balcony?

Neither is truly better than the other. They are simply completely different animals. The only common thread is lots and lots of Italians.

Anyone who doesn't believe New York has a distinct culture has clearly never been there.

In my opinion, there are only a few truly distinct cultural cities in this country:
New York
Boston
Chicago
San Francisco
Austin
New Orleans

As (ETA) Tennessee Williams once said: "Everywhere else is Cleveland"

Different strokes for different folks. I know a lot of people from NOLA who now live in NYC and a lot of people from NYC who now live in NYC. None of them would trade where they live or where they came from for anything.

Both cities offer entirely unique experiences found nowhere else. They both have architecture and culinary traditions that are distinctive and iconic. They both export their own unique brands of people that are instantly recognizable as being from that place. New York offers more variety, but New Orleans offers even more authenticity.

You’re def on the right board for this debate.

Next you should do a Baton Rouge vs Nashville.

I like Austin as far as big cities go but there's nothing terribly distinctive about it

New York City is a world by itself . 10 million people in its metroplex with every ethnicity and culture represented in some form.

New Orleans is nothing compared
