So how does an employer explain to his employee with 5+ years making $30 will now be working next to a new hire with little or no experience making the same money as the newbie?

Just go ahead and make it $100 an hour. They deserve it and you New Yorkers will be happy to pay for it.

I imagine the object of this is to put small business out of business by giving them a revolving workforce that constantly leaves for larger businesses which are easier to control through government regulation

I have a small business in NYC and know a lot of people who own all types of small businesses. I can't think of one that has a single minimum wage employee.

Record shops, coffee shops, pizza places, any small retail, labor help on renovation jobs. These small businesses pay well over the current minimum wage.

It's really the exact opposite of what you're saying. Almost all the minimum wage jobs are in corporate chain stores.

The problem in NYC for small businesses is rent, rent, and then, rent.

Private equity just keeps eating up more and more buildings and corporate chains are the only shops you see opening in them and the rest of the space just stays empty so they can claim it as an asset of whatever ripoff bullshite they do.

It wasn't too long ago that $15 became a thing, and wrecked shite. I guess $15 wasn't enough, let's double it to $30.

That'll do it.

frick, why not $50? If $30 is good, isn't $50 better?

This... Momdaddy should make the evil producers that have not left that shithole take turns working for peanuts just like jury duty to offset the cost of the $50 minimum wage..

There will be plenty of crazy loopholes
Like instead of your company hiring a janitor at $30/hr, you’ll now use some contract janitorial service, located in Hoboken, and these companies will pay a much lower rate.
Furthermore, the janitors will now lose any benefits of being a full time employee, albeit at $17/hr, to now be just some contractor type job holder with no benefits.

You know what? frick it. New York City - you gotta give school teachers more too. Just raise taxes. Raise them again and again and again.

If $30 is good, then $100 an hour is better, let be better and raise that bar...

I really dislike that closed mouth smile he does a lot.

His wife may be more radical than he is. To be honest I didn’t know he was married before he was sworn in, and I think that’s because a lot of the media helped cover up how hateful she is.

Is there an illustration of what that will do to the city's budget alone?

LOL. Hope that dump burns to the ground

A lot of unions have salaries tied to minimum wage, so this is going to be a shitshow.

Hello. Welcome to Minumum wage job business. Will you be using your mobile app?

Go ahead with your order.

Does your Oder appear correct on the screen?

Would you like a drink or any sauces with that?

Would you like to round up your total to the nearest dollar to help
Hungry families?

Got it. Pull up to the window please:

^ works every time now. And when I pull up it’s just an employee who has to do one thing and that’s count. That guy/gal is next up in the replacement method.

Humans are cooked. But hey, how nice is it to hear clear directions and receive accuracy?
