Florida has a Left lane law. They pulled my son over for riding in the left lane. He claims he did not know about it. They gave him a verbal warning. It was on I-10 around Tallahassee....State Trooper. I informed my boy about it being a law here and there are actually signs on Alabama roadways....However, it took me forever to actually find one.

This is a law in Alabama too. I believe it was called the Road Rage Law and state troopers here have been enforcing it

Yep

Don't get me wrong, people just hanging out in the left lane not going fast enough is certainly an issue.

But those that want to go 90 or 100 and think they own the left lane and never have to slow down or just as annoying and even more dangerous IMO.

If there's a decent amount of traffic but still flowing, and you're passing a row of 6 or 7 cars going slow, it's just as annoying when that car that wants to do 95mph thinks he owns the left lane and you should immediately move over despite the fact that you're using the left lane exactly as you should, to pass slower cars.

If you will take notice the cars riding in the left lane in Louisiana usually have Texas license plates.

Good law. For some reason Texans love to drive the speed limit in any and all lanes.

South Carolina has a law that says slower traffic must keep right and it has been periodically enforced regardless of speed limit....so the person in the left hand lane doing 85 in a 65 being passed by people in the right hand lane doing 90 gets the ticket. It is badly written because slower cant be quantified but i am told it has been enforced that way...

I've seen this posted before. I live less than a mile from the A96 in Bavaria and drive the Autobahn all the time. Here are the facts. There is no law that prohibits driving in the left lane on the Autobahn. What is prohibited and will get you in trouble is driving in the left lane and blocking faster drivers. Before pulling out to pass you better damn sure check to see if someone is coming up behind you. You will be in big shite if you cause a wreck in this manner. If you commute to Munich, you will see that all the lanes are occupied. Regarding the Polizei: they do not hang out on the Autobahn in speed traps. Any ticket you get will be as a result of a speed camera - with your mug clearly shown. If you see cops on the Autobahn it's because they are going somewhere or there's been an accident. Don't mean this to be rude, but I've driven here since 1988 and wanted to clear this up.

Not even close in my opinion.

I've spent enough time on I-10 between New Orleans/Baton Rouge and Baton Rouge/Houston to know that Louisiana drivers are infinitely worse than Texas drivers when it comes to driving too slowly in the left lane and/or not allowing people to pass.

What you linked only defines passing. Doesn’t mandate it, near as I can tell. Perhaps that is mandated elsewhere.

I don’t understand which part of this law is new. Texas already has a left lane law but it’s poorly enforced. Major cause of accidents when faster motorists are forced to pass on the right bc a vehicle doesn’t move out of the left lane.

In Houston you'd be getting passed by 16yo girls in Teslas.

Wrong. You don't drive it enough.

I am on 12 everyday and its Texas drivers slowing things down 9 out 10 times. I will give Texas drivers props for getting over after they get passed in the right lane by a few cars. Louisiana drivers don't get the hint.

Well maybe if all them baws with Texas plates would get out of the left lane, then I wouldn’t have to use the right lane as a passing lane.

Just like cell phone laws. We already have reckless driving laws that all of this crap falls under. It’s just a way for politicians to pat themselves on the back to say they are trying to fix a problem but lack of enforcement of standing laws is the problem.

Alabama passed this law a few years ago, and from my careful analysis and research since, that law didn't do crap to help rid of slow left lane drivers

You are absolutely right about that. I grew up in Texas and it was almost the first thing I learned (along with signaling every move). I’ve driven back and forth from Louisiana an hundred times and interstate drivers in Texas are much much better at adhering to this “rule of the road.” Anyone who thinks otherwise is lying or straight dumb.

What if there is nobody in the left lane either?
