I doubt this refers to federal highways and may end up referring to Texas roads only but it is a good start. I read it as use left lane to pass and then return to original lane of travel.

Return to the original lane of travel

Aren't there already laws about not driving in the passing lane? Or slower traffic keeping right?

I do appreciate the sentiment but unless there's active enforcement this isn't relaly moving the needle much for me I don't think

I would need to know what the amended portion says currently to have any sense of what this does.

Drivers will still go 90 mph in the left lane so they can be perpetually passing.

This is a law in Louisiana that no one follows and no law enforcement enforces.

Does doing 110mph in passing lane count as continually passing? Maybe they can just get a ticket for speeding.

Florida has a Left lane law. They pulled my son over for riding in the left lane. He claims he did not know about it. They gave him a verbal warning. It was on I-10 around Tallahassee....State Trooper. I informed my boy about it being a law here and there are actually signs on Alabama roadways....However, it took me forever to actually find one.

Well, this is already one of the "rules of the road" even if it isn't technically a law or not enforced.

I have driven one time on the Autobahn, with my step-father who grew up in Germany on an Army base. He let me know that the German polizei will definitely give you a ticket if you are just cruising in the left lane and not passing. They take it pretty serious. Especially on the stretches with no speed limits through rural areas. A supercar doing 170 mph can get up on you pretty quick even if you're doing 100mph.

Who do you think enforces traffic laws on federal highways?

The state/local LEOs bc the federal highway is in their geographical jurisdiction.

they're the worst drivers on the road imo, but once they get in that position(which they do because they're assholes,) they're stuck there, can't accelerate

I don't care how fast you are going. If there is no one in the right lane next to you, get over.

As someone who lived in Louisiana for 35 years and moved to Texas for the last 3 years...left lane drivers are 10000x more of an issue in LA than they are in TX.

I couldn't tell you the last time (if ever) I had to wait for someone to get out of my way in the left lane here in TX.

When I go back to Louisiana, it happens every 2 mins.

It doesn’t matter what kind of laws you have if cop’s won’t enforce them. In Louisiana that is already the law but I couldn’t tell you how many times I have seen cops just playing follow the leader in the left lane. If they wanted to enforce it they could make a fortune writing tickets to people that are holding up the traffic in the left lane
