New (to me) hostile architecture for medians / neutral ground?

Was at a light at a Texas intersection that used to always have bums panhandling. No bums in sight. Noticed the new brick work in the median where they used to stand. Sure looks like it would be awkward to stand and walk on.

I approve.

Edit. Found a reddit thread where they were bitching about this. But they did have a better picture than mine:

Someone in the thread mentioned this could break an ankle and cause the city a lawsuit. Hope this doesn't get taken down over a lawsuit. We need more of this.

Japan uses benches like these to keep people from street drinking and sleeping.

I went to the hostile architecture subreddit and this was the first post I saw.

Since this is reddit I’m sure the mods will remove it very soon.

99% of the sub is pictures of benches that make sleeping on them impossible. Kinda fascinating.

Bums will just lay a piece of plywood over them.

I could find a way to sleep on that.

I love it. No risk of a lawsuit since it’s open-and-obvious and not a walkway.

Nola actually did this but in a much more eye-appealing way at the bottom of the Tchoup exit. This is what it looked like before:

After: I can’t find any updated pics online but there are areas all over Nola that used this type landscape in the beautification projects leading up to the Super Bowl. The pan-handling stopped immediately.

Just ask an attorney, they can find the exception and still make the city or state liable for stupidity.
