Utopias,

Drinks way more like a Port than it drinks like your 'average' beer.

I found Ghost recently here in town (Eunice) and tried it for the first time about a month ago (I now keep 2 4-packs in my fridge, shite is good) and I drank 5 of them before realizing it was like 9% or w/e it is.
Had a great buzz, no hangover.
28 percent is barely a beer IMO

I always felt the same way, but some of their new IPAs are kinda good
Which ones? I have avoided any Sam product for a while now so I don't know what new stuff they've tried to come out with.
I always try to tell people to avoid doing the tour there when they go to Boston. Just one big tourist trap with crappy beer.

It is closer to a spirit rather than a beer.
I believe they actually used to distill it. Maybe they've changed that, or maybe they're just hiding it better. It's certainly a stretch to call it beer.

One of these days I'm going to invent the ultimate beer snob douche drink: A glass of raw hops and grain alcohol. I'll call it an "I WIN!"

Make sure to limit how much you put out and hype the eff out of it on social media.....maybe hire some Ruskies to help you with that.

I don't think it was ever distilled but it was aged in (I believe) cognac barrels.

It's not like any other beer I've ever had, that's for sure. 28% ABV and uncarbonated doesn't seem like beer to me.
I didn't really like it that much (yet it was still better than Triple Bock). I suppose it would be OK on a cold night in front of the fireplace but Macallan fills that role for me.

This beer is not new. They’ve made Utopias for about 20 years in very limited batches.

've experienced the same recently with Techeticles IPA. It's "only" a 12% but after four I was sure feeling it. And the next day was not fun. But damn it's so good going down.

It’s legal in Massachusetts, though, where the beer will be sold for $200.
What does a $200 beer taste like? Sam Adams says it is “reminiscent of a rich vintage Port, old Cognac, or fine Sherry with notes of dark fruit, subtle sweetness, and a deep rich malty smoothness.”
The beer uses three varieties of German hops, and is a blend of batches–including some that have been aged up to 24 years in barrels that contained everything from aquavit to moscat.
This is the 10th release of Utopias, which was first released in 2002. Only 13,000 bottles of the 2017 vintage are being released this year.
