All of this.

Her unnecessary death, and its gruesome manner, precludes these monsters from any of my sympathy.

We could save a lot of resources by treating them the exact way they treated Linda. It really is the least of what they deserve.

Two psychiatrists testified last week that Theophile lacked an understanding of court proceedings and showed signs of intellectual limitations that have rendered her incapable, without restoration, of aiding her attorney in her own defense.

Cecilia Webb, M.D., testified that she and another psychiatrist had difficulty engaging with Theophile during a 45-minute initial exam, in which the teenager displayed both a reluctance to speak and an inability to answer their questions. Records from the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center, where Theophile has been held on $1 million bail since her arrest last year, also showed the teenager had been suffering from depressive symptoms, including hopelessness, Webb said.

Maybe if Latoya sits with her in Court it would cheer her up.

The trial should be simply showing the crime as it happened on camera. Immediately followed by a 9mm round to the back of the neck.

Should be determined "incompetent to stand living".

So depression is now considered incompetent? Talk about a slippery slope.

The family should have requested the trial be moved to another parish.

Just don't answer questions and they'll deem you unfit to stand trial. Lawyers hate this one simple trick!

I will never understand the concept of the "incompetent" or the "insanity" plea.

To me, that is worse.

I much more afraid of the crazy motherfricker than the hungry one.

Alex Murdaugh just perked up and put on a sad, sad face because he's now a depressed widower and mourning the death of his son.

Remember the Raising Cane's employee killed in Metairie a few years back? The a-hole who stabbed her in the head has still not been brought to trial due to similar reasons - questions of competence, etc...

Ridiculous.

The families of the victims keep getting drug along in their hope for justice to be served on what should be open/shut cases.

Put her in a state mental hospital long enough and the prospect of having to go lickety split for the rest of her life may be appealing.

Oh btw some of the potential jurors may have been eliminated due to prior criminal convictions but this is fairly common depending on the pool of peers you are choosing from.

Facing the possibility of life in prison, depression is an appropriate response. Why should that make her unfit stand trial?
