The mother of a KIPP Central City Academy student has been arrested on charges of beating her son on campus after being notified he had misbehaved at the middle school, New Orleans police say.
According to documents that police filed in Criminal District Court, Adrianna Bridges, 33, showed up Thursday morning at the school at 2514 Third St. and grabbed her 13-year-old son by the hair. The boy told police she struck him several times, slung him to the floor and punched him in the face. Police said surveillance video backs up the child's version.
Bridges told police she slapped the boy, according to the documents.

That’s nothing compared to how I was raised. I’ve often said that if my grandmother who raised me were doing so today in the same way she did it in the 1970s & early 80s, it would make national news and probably even spawn a HLN special.

on 9/23/23 at 11:50 am to Darth_VaderI grew up in the 90s and my mom didn’t hold back when swinging a paddle. She’d tell my teachers they had permission to give me the same thing if I acted up in school. Consequently, I was always well behaved at school.

I think whippings are warranted at times, but there’s a very big difference in a well deserved spanking and beating people and calling it discipline. I think most rational human beings know the difference, but the trouble gets when a whole society live their lives around physical confrontations, yelling at and berating people, and all in anger, with no love to be seen.
It’s no great wonder the byproducts of all of this end up settling everything with fists and guns, don’t know how to talk to one another without resorting to threats and insults, and have an inability to love and be loved. Look at the references they have to draw from.
