At first I thought it may have been a mistake and you meant murder rate, but nope, it's murders.

I'm too lazy to Google the population of both right now because I'm just getting home, but, IIRC, Chicago has a ton more people than New Orleans.

It's sad to even think that people mention Mitch being able to run for president. And when will black people wake up? Democrats don't give a damn about y'all. Jobs is what the black community needs (and education/fathers) but instead, y'all blindly vote for people who promise more and more redistribution so y'all can sell dope while on welfare and they can keep getting y'alls vote.

This past presidential election, I had a black friend who's mom told him to vote democrat no matter what. Wtf kind of mindset is that? It's truly sad.

Jackson is a shithole without question, but that's not a major city outside of Mississippi.

New Orleans and Memphis at one point in time could have been mentioned with the upper tier Southern cities like Dallas, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Nashville, Charolette, etc.

Instead now they are second rate major cities that are mentioned with places like Detroit and Southside Chicago. If it wasn't for Mardi Gras New Orleans would be majorly fricked.

It smells like shite, it's the most corrupt city in the United States and it now holds an edge over Chicago for murder (A city with a HUGE population Advantage)

Naw, I'm good.

Chicago just passed 200 firearm homicides for this calendar year (from 1 Jan 2017).....if adjusted per capita maybe New Orleans has surpassed Chicago but not likely.
Per capita New Orleans usually has twice the homicide rate of Chicago.

You gotta remember that New Orleans only has a population of 350,000.

205 murders in New Orleans with a population of 350,000 is a murder rate of 58.6 per 100,000 people.

Chicago last year had 762 murders with a population of nearly 3 million (2,722,000). That would be a murder rate of 27.9 per 100,000... and that's a 19 year high.

Also for reference, in 1994 New Orleans had a murder rate of 94.0 per 100,000. That means if New Orleans had 2.7 million people like Chicago, they would have had 2,559 murders in 1994.

So both today, and even more so historically, New Orleans has a much higher per capita murder rate than Chicago.

Per capita no question. Chicago has 7x the population of New Orleans and 2.3xish times as many murders.

Then yes they would because Chicago metro area has a population of ~9M. However just this past weekend Chicago (mainly Southside and some SW burbs) had 6 firearm murders and 34 people shot.

So, seriously, what explains the decrease in Chicago and the increase in NO? Got to be just a statistical anomaly, correct?
Cultures don't change in a year's time, nor would some "educational" program to the city help.

He specifically said number of murders, not murder rate.
